Rust Engineering Lead Role

Join Canonical as a Rust Engineering Lead and play a pivotal role in driving the adoption of the Rust programming language across our diverse offerings, starting with Ubuntu. Canonical is a leader in open-source software and operates in a fully distributed environment, enabling you to work from anywhere while collaborating with a global team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement well-tested and documented software in Rust.
  • Advocate for Rust adoption in Canonical and upstream projects.
  • Identify projects for prioritizing Rust integration.
  • Debug and resolve issues for users.
  • Participate in code and architectural reviews.
  • Collaborate on technical specifications and seek improvements in engineering practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic track record with a degree in Computer Science or STEM.
  • Experience in designing and writing high-quality Rust software on Linux.
  • Strong passion for Linux at the system level.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Professional written and spoken English.
  • Ability to travel for company events twice a year.
