Job Title: Overhead Crane Operator
Job Summary:
The Overhead Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating overhead cranes to lift, move, and position materials within a warehouse or manufacturing facility. This role plays a critical part in maintaining workflow efficiency while adhering to strict safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate overhead crane to move heavy materials, equipment, and products
- Inspect crane equipment daily to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance
- Load, unload, and transport materials to designated areas
- Communicate with team members using hand signals or radios to coordinate lifts
- Ensure proper rigging and secure loads before lifting
- Follow all OSHA and company safety regulations
- Maintain accurate records of materials moved when required
- Assist with general warehouse or production duties as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous overhead crane operating experience required
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a physically demanding environment
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Work Environment:
- Industrial or manufacturing setting
- Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures
- Requires standing, lifting, and working at heights (depending on facility)
Preferred Skills:
- Overhead crane certification
- Experience in steel, automotive, or heavy manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of rigging techniques and load calculations
