Job description

Your mission
you want to provide hands-on HSE field assurance at the SOGEPE project, Ivory Coast (283MW gas power plant operation), ensuring that high-risk activities are controlled in real time, and that site operations meet Aggreko standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.

The role has a strong field presence and focuses on operational risk control, particularly for gas, HV systems, lifting operations, and contractor interfaces.

Job Accountabilities/Key Responsibilities

Maintain daily presence on site to monitor high-risk activities
- Verify Permit to Work (PTW) controls before and during execution
- Conduct real-time verification of lifting operations, electrical and High Voltage (HV) work, and contractor activities
- Stop unsafe work where required and enforce compliance
- Ensure only competent and authorised personnel perform high-risk tasks
- Provide HSE oversight for ATEX / explosive atmospheres (gas environment) and HV systems
- Support safe execution of maintenance and operations in gas-powered assets
- Oversee contractor HSE performance and compliance, ensuring proper induction, supervision, and control of third-party activities
- Verify that contractor methods align with Aggreko and client safety standards
- Identify risks proactively and implement corrective actions
- Conduct and support incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and learnings are embedded on site
- Provide QHSE induction to all new starters and ensure ongoing understanding of site risks and controls
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and reinforce safe working behaviours across site teams
- Act as a visible HSE leader on site, driving compliance and safe behaviours
-Conduct HSE audits and inspections and ensure timely close-out of actions
- Ensure compliance with local legislation and Aggreko HSE standards
- Coordinate inspection, testing, and certification of safety-critical equipment including lifting gear, fire systems, and alarms
- Maintain required HSE documentation, records, and reporting
- Support HSE activities during site mobilisation, commissioning, and demobilisation
- Assist the Location Manager in carrying out risk assessments for site activities
- Identify training needs and support delivery of appropriate HSE training for employees and contractors
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives in HSE performance
- Any other duties considered essential for the effective running of operational and QHSE services

Job Requirements
Functionally
- Strong background in field-based HSE assurance

- Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in a QHSE role with an international organisation.
- Demonstrated experience in: ATEX / gas environments, High Voltage (HV) electrical safety, Permit to Work systems
- Strong understanding of: Contractor risk management, Lifting operations, Energy isolation
- NEBOSH International General Certificate or equivalent internationally accredited HSE qualification.
- Technical or engineering-related qualification preferred

Industry
- Minimum 5 years HSE experience in industrial / power / oil & gas / heavy industry-
- Proven experience in live operational environments (not only admin or reporting roles)
Other
- Ivory Coast national and resident (mandatory).
- Fluent French and working English (mandatory)
