Job description

Location: Kennebunk Pain Care Maine Health

Employment Type: 0.5 FTE (20 hrs/week)

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our comprehensive pain management team. The APP will work collaboratively with physicians and a multidisciplinary care team to evaluate, treat, and manage patients with acute and chronic pain conditions. This role includes independent follow-up care, participation in new patient consultations under physician supervision, and responsible pain medication management in accordance with CDC guidelines.

  • The annual base pay range for this position at a 0.5 FTE is $56,950 to $73,700.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent follow-up visits for patients with chronic pain conditions

  • Participate in new patient consultations in collaboration with supervising physicians

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in coordination with the care team

  • Prescribe and manage medications, including controlled substances, in compliance with CDC and state guidelines

  • Monitor patient progress, treatment effectiveness, and adjust care plans as needed

  • Provide patient education on pain management strategies, medication safety, and lifestyle modifications

  • Collaborate closely with interventional pain physicians.

  • Coordinate care with social workers to support patients' psychosocial and behavioral health needs

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, ethical, and clinical standards of care

Current Procedures Performed by APPs:

  • Subacromial bursa injection

  • Suprascapular Nerve block

  • Glenohumeral joint injection

  • Biceps tendon sheath injection

  • Piriformis Injection

  • Greater Trochanteric bursa injections

  • Knee injection/aspiration

  • deeper trigger points

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Master's Degree required.

  • Current license issued by the State of Maine or eligible for licensure. Certification of Physician Associate/Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required for PA's. Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (e.g., FNP, AGNP)

  • DEA license with prescriptive authority

  • Experience in pain management, primary care, or related field preferred

  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills

  • Knowledge of CDC guidelines for opioid prescribing and pain management best practices Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an APP

  • Prior experience in pain management, musculoskeletal care, primary care, or related field preferred

  • Experience working in multidisciplinary or integrated care settings.

  • Work Environment

  • Collaborative, team-based setting with support from interventional pain physicians.

  • Focus on comprehensive, patient-centered care addressing physical and psychosocial aspects of pain
