About the Team
The Manager, Systems Engineering role is part of Nutanix's dynamic Systems Engineering & Solution Sales organization. This team consists of over 800 customer-focused technical sales professionals dedicated to identifying and matching technology opportunities with customers' business objectives. The team operates primarily in Chicago and Minneapolis, fostering a collaborative culture that encourages creativity and innovation in crafting unique solutions for diverse customer challenges. The mission of the team is to educate, consult, assess, architect, and propose Nutanix solutions, ensuring customer success while driving revenue targets.
You will report to the Director of Systems Engineering, who leads with a supportive and empowering philosophy, focusing on active coaching and development of team members. The work setup is primarily remote, allowing for flexibility in daily operations while requiring in-office presence only for essential meetings and collaboration sessions. The hired individual will primarily work from home but must occasionally visit the office for team meetings as needed.
This role requires approximately 25% travel to engage with customers and partners, ensuring the relationship and understanding of their business challenges align with the powerful solutions Nutanix offers. Travel may include attending seminars, on-site consultations, and other key meetings within the designated territory.
Your Role
  • Provide active coaching and talent development for Systems Engineers (SEs) to achieve sales targets and skill development goals.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to recruit and onboard new SEs to the respective territory.
  • Support SEs in complex solution assessments, product specifications, and problem-solving.
  • Facilitate cross-functional communication to enhance customer and partner satisfaction.
  • Assist SEs in deal negotiations with end-users and channel partners as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with technical leadership at customer and partner organizations.
  • Deliver roadmap and vision presentations to key technical stakeholders.
  • Manage team performance metrics and initiate regular career conversations for team members.

What You Will Bring
  • 3+ years of management experience preferred
  • 5-7+ years of experience in a Presales customer-facing technical role
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on team goal achievement
  • Excellent people management skills with a high level of empathy for team members
  • Technical experience in virtualization technologies, data center consolidation, and/or server technologies
  • Strong ability to assimilate new technologies and proven customer-facing skills at C-level
  • Ability to support technical sales cycles as a player/coach when needed

Work Arrangement
Remote: This position is primarily remote. There is no specific in-office requirement, however, there may be circumstances where you may be required to come into a local office for a specific purpose, and/or to travel to other locations based on business needs.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 253,600 and USD $ 380,400 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
