Job description

Cardiovascular Interventional Technologist 2

**$15,000 Sign-On Bonus**

The Cardiovascular Interventional Technologist 2 assists the physician in performing interventional, cardiovascular, and operating room procedures. Produces images to actively assist the attending physician. Uses pre-established imaging protocols and departmental policy to perform safe operation of imaging equipment and all functions of the job. May provide complete pre and post education to patients and family. Able to evaluate competency level of others in cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology, and/or interventional radiology. Increased departmental responsibilities delegated by the clinical supervisor or lead tech including but not limited too: coordinating departmental inventory, mentoring and training incoming imaging tech 1's, aspects of departmental radiation protection, assist with departmental education, perform annual survey of the departmental lead vests. Reports to Supervisor or Manager.

Responsibilities

Proficient in all complex and advanced interventional procedures. Actively participates and assists physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular and/or interventional radiology procedures, including but not limited to implanting pacemakers/defibrillators, structural heart, electrophysiology, cardiac and vascular angiograms including diagnostic and interventional, and neurovascular and interventional radiology procedures and interventions. Always follows as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) guidelines and operate fluoroscopic imaging equipment to produce contrast enhanced radiographs of heart, vascular, cardiovascular system. Acts as a backup for other technologists in the department as needed to ensure quality of care is being met while being able to evaluate others, being assigned to charge as needed, and acting as a lead tech on call backs.

Check, test, and maintain fluoroscopy equipment, to ensure proper operation. Completes all other equipment daily checks/test that must be performed and documented before first procedure and notifies lead and/or supervisor when daily checks/test fail. Monitor patients' blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate, comfort and patient safety. Ensures patient vital sign documentation is accurate and alert physicians of abnormalities. Uses electrocardiogram (EKG) equipment during diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Maintains a proper sterile field during surgical procedures. Performs quality audits and projects as needed and participates in performance improvement.

Experience

Previous experience required - 3 years of progressive interventional or cardiovascular experience

Education

High School or equivalent

Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technologist Program

Certification/Licensure

License or Certification required - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT (R) Louisiana / Mississippi License Basic Life Support, BLS
