Job description

Mastronardi Produce pioneered the commercial greenhouse industry in North America, and we're now the leading greenhouse vegetable company on the continent. Our award-winning, flavorful produce is packed under the SUNSET® brand and is available at leading grocery retailers across North America. Family owned for over 70 years, we pride ourselves on having the most flavorful products and the best people in the industry. We are constantly pushing boundaries to be a leader in fresh produce innovation. We seek individuals that demonstrate our PRIDE values (Passion, Respect, Innovation, Drive, Excellence) to help us fulfill our mission to inspire healthy living through WOW flavor experiences.
Our corporate office in Livonia, Michigan is currently seeking a Business Process Architect to join our team! The Business Process Architect is a critical new role responsible for bridging business strategy and technology execution across MPL's enterprise transformation programs - starting with Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and extending into Warehouse Management (WMS), Manufacturing Execution (MES), and Enterprise Data Lake. This individual will lead the definition of target-state business processes, capability models, and functional requirements - with depth in supply chain, distribution, and financial operations - ensuring that platform decisions are grounded in how the business operates.
This role reports dually to the Chief Information Officer and the Vice President of Enterprise Data Management & Grower Platforms. It is a hands-on, cross-functional position that works directly with business stakeholders in Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Distribution to translate operational realities into architecture decisions.
Values:
To perform the job successfully, the incumbent's behavior must be consistent with the PRIDE values expected of all Mastronardi Produce employees: be Passionate; have Respect; be Innovative; be Driven and strive for Excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • ERP Transformation: Lead business process analysis and functional requirements definition for ERP platform selection and implementation (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations or SAP S/4HANA), with emphasis on distribution, warehousing, and logistics modules.
  • Define and document end-to-end business process models across core ERP domains: Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Plan-to-Produce, and Record-to-Report.
  • Map current-state processes in the existing Dynamics NAV environment and identify gaps, inefficiencies, and customization debt that the target ERP must resolve.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications for system integrators and implementation partners.
  • IBP Platform Support: Partner with the IBP program team to ensure the selected planning tool (o9 Solutions or equivalent) integrates cleanly with ERP processes, Master data, and the broader Enterprise Data Architecture.
  • Define integration touchpoints between IBP and ERP for demand signals, supply commitments, inventory positions, and financial plan alignment.
  • Supply Chain & Distribution Focus: Serve as the business architecture lead for distribution-side operations including warehouse management, order fulfillment, transportation and logistics, load planning, and customer delivery scheduling.
  • Document critical chain functional requirements spanning demand planning, supply allocation, inventory management, procurement, and grower coordination.
  • Evaluate ERP module fit for perishable goods distribution - short shelf-life constraints, lot traceability, FIFO/FEFO enforcement, quality holds, and dynamic allocation.
  • WMS, MES & Data Platform Coordination: Participate in enterprise architecture discussions spanning Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and the enterprise Data Lake / ODP, ensuring business process designs account for how operational data flows between shop floor, warehouse, and analytical layers.
  • Collaborate with WMS and MES teams to define integration requirements with the target ERP - pick/pack/ship workflows, production scheduling, quality capture, yield tracking, and real-time inventory visibility.
  • Ensure business architecture decisions align with MPL's Data Lake and ODP strategy so that transactional data from ERP, WMS, and MES lands in the right structure for downstream analytics, reporting, and AI use cases.
  • Define data handoff points and latency requirements between operational systems (MES, WMS) and planning systems (ERP, IBP) to support near-real-time decision-making on the distribution floor.
  • Financial Systems & Processes: Lead the business architecture workstream for ERP financial modules - General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Financial Reporting - ensuring process designs meet the CFO organization's requirements for accuracy, auditability, and close-cycle speed.
  • Document current-state finance processes in Dynamics NAV and identify gaps in inter-company transactions, multi-currency handling, cost accounting, and grower settlement workflows that the target ERP must address.
  • Define integration requirements between ERP financial modules and adjacent systems -the IBP platform (budgeting/forecasting, financial plan alignment), and the ODP/Data Lake (management reporting and KPI unification).
  • Cross-Functional Design: Facilitate discovery workshops and process-mapping sessions with stakeholders across Sales, Category Planning, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Distribution to build consensus on target-state processes.
  • Develop business capability models that connect strategic objectives to functional requirements and platform capabilities.
  • Identify process gaps, integration points, and data dependencies across ERP, IBP, WMS, MES, Data Lake, and existing systems (Dynamics NAV, ODP/Fabric, Anaplan, Custom Applications, etc.).
  • Partner with the Enterprise Data Management team on data migration planning, mapping legacy NAV data structures to target ERP data models.
  • Vendor & Partner Engagement: Support ERP vendor evaluation by developing functional fit-gap assessments, scoring frameworks, and business-scenario test scripts.
  • Serve as the primary business architecture liaison to system integrators and implementation partners, ensuring solution designs reflect MPL's operational realities.

Education/Background Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in business architecture, enterprise transformation, or ERP implementation in a cross-functional role.
  • Deep functional knowledge of at least one major ERP platform - Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations or SAP S/4HANA - across core modules (Finance, Supply Chain Management, Warehouse Management, Procurement).
  • Solid understanding of ERP financial processes - General Ledger, AP/AR, cost accounting, inter-company transactions, financial close, and management reporting - and how they integrate with supply chain and operational modules.
  • Strong supply chain domain expertise with specific depth in distribution, warehousing, logistics, and order management processes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading business process modeling (BPMN, value stream mapping, swim-lane diagrams) and translating process designs into functional requirements.
  • Experience facilitating cross-functional workshops with senior business stakeholders and building consensus across competing priorities.
  • Understanding of master data management concepts and the role of data governance in ERP implementations.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • Experience in food, agriculture, CPG, or perishable goods distribution - understanding of short shelf-life supply chains, lot traceability, and food safety requirements.
  • Familiarity with IBP/S&OP platforms and how they integrate with ERP planning modules.
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft data ecosystem (Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Dynamics NAV migration paths).
  • Experience with enterprise integration platforms (Boomi, MuleSoft, etc.) and understanding of API-driven architectures
  • Hands-on experience with WMS and/or MES platforms and their integration with ERP in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience mapping financial close processes, chart-of-accounts design, or multi-entity consolidation in an ERP transformation context.
  • Relevant professional certifications (TOGAF, APICS/ASCM CSCP, SAP Certified Application Associate, CMA/CPA awareness) are a plus.
  • Prior experience supporting ERP selection processes, including vendor evaluation, RFP development, and proof-of-concept coordination.

Working Conditions:
  • Typical office environment.
