Project Overview:
This role will support few small and medium-sized scope projects in the power and renewable sectors within the Infrastructure Business Unit.
Job Summary:
Bechtel Global Logistics (BGL) is seeking a project Logistics Specialist based in Houston to support few small to medium sized scope projects. The Logistics Specialist will be responsible for supporting domestic and international multi-leg shipments coordination with both internal and external entities, ensuring safe, timely, and economical delivery of goods to meet project requirements. Your work will help ensure project requirements are satisfied in accordance with policies and procedures. This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Performs work as a Logistics technical role supporting the Logistics Lead in planning and executing project freight requirements as a dedicated resource in the home office.
  • Performs domestic and international multi-leg shipment responsibilities in support of project requirements to ensure the safe, timely, and economical delivery of goods to meet project requirements.
  • Assists with the sourcing and procurement of chartering services for breakbulk and heavy lift shipments to support the safe, timely, and cost-effective movement of project materials/equipment.
  • Identifies transport cost and service alternatives to support materials/equipment purchase decisions and use of Logistics Service Providers.
  • Assists with the development of logistics budget, estimates reforecast, cost trend and deviation tracking, and logistics acquisition plan.
  • Supports FEED and EPC feasibility transport studies, budget strategy, estimating, and the development of project logistics execution plan (PLEP).
  • Coordinates shipments with requisite internal and external entities
  • Prepare and issue to market logistics service bid packages for heavy haul trucking, rail oversize and overweight, freight forwarding services, customs brokerage, and breakbulk chartering.
  • Prepare Logistics service provider bid tabs for evaluation, commitment authorizations, and contract documents within the scope of Bechtel policies and procedures.
  • Ensures entry of shipment tracking data into Transportation Management System (TMS) and other functional tools/systems to provide visibility shipment status.
  • Prepares logistics reports or performance metrics as required to satisfy project information requirements
  • Ensures timely audit and processing of Logistics Service Provider invoices in accordance with project procedures
  • Ensures project operations is consistent with well-established and clear corporate and functional requirements.
  • Files and resolves Logistics Service Provider claims
  • Assists with preparation of logistics studies including site and service provider facility visits.
  • Organize import/export and customs documentation in accordance with import requirements.
  • Capability to interact with project supply chain management team to review logistics strategies in consideration of cost, risk, and schedule assessments
  • Integrates safety requirements and measures in all logistics activities

Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of and experience in multimodal transport modes - domestic transportation - including oversize/overweight, rail freight-including oversize and overweight, airfreight, sea freight; containerized, LCL, breakbulk and barging
  • Knowledge of importing and exporting formalities and processes
  • Knowledge of industry packing, making, and shipping requirements
  • Knowledge and practical understanding of Incoterms (2020)
  • Knowledge of business intelligence/analytics tools such as Artificial Intelligence, Smart Sheet, and Power BI is preferred
  • Ability to use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Recognized as an individual contributor with specialized skill set.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written English communication skills.
  • Will be required to attend logistics meetings, travel to ports of loading and discharge to supervise cargo truck, vessel, and barge operations.
  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.
