What is a freight broker account manager?

Freight Broker Account Managers are professionals who act as intermediaries between shippers needing to transport goods and carriers that provide transportation services. They manage client relationships, negotiate shipping rates, coordinate logistics, and ensure shipments are delivered efficiently and on time. In addition to overseeing daily transportation operations, they are responsible for building and maintaining a portfolio of clients, resolving issues, and growing business opportunities within the freight brokerage industry.

How does a freight broker account manager collaborate with carriers and shippers to resolve issues during shipments?

A Freight Broker Account Manager serves as the main point of contact between shippers and carriers, actively communicating to address any challenges that arise during transit, such as delays, damages, or routing changes. They are responsible for proactively monitoring shipments, troubleshooting problems, and ensuring that both parties are updated and satisfied with the service. This requires strong negotiation skills, quick problem-solving, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building abilities help you manage accounts and resolve challenges efficiently. • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using a TMS, CRM, DAT, Truckstop, or similar transportation platforms.
