Job Summary and Qualifications

Full time (Monday - Friday, day shift), no nights, no on-call, no weekends, no holidaysย 


Theย Cardiacย Registered Nurseย โ€“ย RNย provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices.ย The registered nurse cardiac -vascularย possessesย advanced knowledge and skillย in the area ofย cardiac nursing.ย The registered cardiac -vascular nurseย demonstratesย critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient.ย 


What you will do in this role:ย 


Uses critical thinking skills to assess facts and make rational decisions quickly and effectively when working with patients who have heart complicationsย 


Participates as part of an interdisciplinary care team in the treatment of cardiac โ€“ vascular conditions such as heart failure, heart valve disorders, high blood pressure, vascular disorders, heartย attackย and arrythmiaย 


Interprets data and responds to urgent situations in a way thatย optimizesย patient care and produces positive outcomes.ย 


Usesย analytical skills to review test results, draw conclusions, and advise on treatment plans.ย 


Performs and interprets various cardiac and vascular lab testsย 


Works closely with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, electrophysiologists, and other physicians in the care and treatment of full range of cardiovascular conditionsย 


Participates in clinical trials and clinical research programs as per clinic needsย 


Documents legible and concise entries in the medical record.ย 


Documents complete medical history on each patientย onย initialย session and updated medicalย recordย appropriately with each visit.ย 


Performsย appropriate patientย preparation for each visit and/or procedure.ย 


Performs medication reconciliation on each visit.ย 


Educates patients on cardiovascular diseases, including but not limited to preventive measuresย 


Helps diagnose and treat cardiovascular eventsย 


Assistsย in performing diagnostic tests such as ECGโ€™s, EKGโ€™sย 


Initiatives Holter and Event monitorsย 


Interacts with the patients as well as their families pre and post treatmentย 


Monitors the patient and their vitals, especially cardiovascular readingsย 


Assesses and interprets lab resultsย 


Possesses knowledge of ACC/AHA guidelines related to heart failureย 


Makes critical decisions concerning the initiative of emergency medical procedures as appropriateย 


Maintains an orderly, efficient, andย timelyย flow of patients.ย 


Greetsย patients andย preparesย them forย physicianโ€™sย examination.ย 


Provides general nursing care to patients as necessary for office treatment.ย 


Screens patients forย appropriate information.ย 


Instructs patients inย collectionย of samples and tests.ย 


Arrangesย for patient testing and admissions.ย 


Checksย rooms daily for necessary supplies.ย 


Responds to andย refersย incoming telephone calls.ย 


Instructs patients and familyย regardingย medications and treatment instructions.ย 


Maintains and reviews patientsโ€™ records and other pertinent information.ย 


Postsย tests and examination results.ย 


Maintains patientย confidentially.ย 


Administers medicationsย in accordance withย physician orders.ย 


Maintains current knowledge toย assureย a safe working environment andย demonstratesย practical application of all policies and proceduresย relativeย to safety and infection control.ย 


Utilizes universal precautions in any potential contact with patient body fluids or used patient supplies that may be contaminated with patient body fluids.ย 


Projects a positive image of the facility in all interactions and supporting effective team functioning.ย 


What Qualifications you will need:ย ย ย 


EDUCATION:ย 


Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing isย required.ย 


EXPERIENCE:ย 


Minimum ofย three yearsย registeredย nurse cardiac -vascular experience in an acute care or cardiology clinic settingย required. Experience to includeย 


CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:ย 


BLSย requiredย upon hireย 


ACLSย requiredย withinย 60 daysย of hireย ย 


Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurseย in accordance withย state regulationsย ย 


Cardiac Medicine Certification (CMC) through American Association of Critical Care Nursing (AACN) preferred ORย ย 


Cardiac Vascular Nursing Certification (CV-BC) through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) preferredย
