DescriptionThe Technical Education Manager is responsible for driving growth, elevating technical excellence, and building brand connection through the planning and execution of superior, mission-based technical education across the salon, spa, and Institute channels. This role serves as both a strategic education leader and a field-based technical trainer, spending approximately 50% of the time in-market coaching and training top accounts in Aveda hair color and 50% focused on designing and implementing technical education strategies that bring the brand's global education vision and initiatives to life through impactful execution, including train-the-trainer programs and educator capability development
This individual will lead the execution of education calendars that support business objectives, inspire technical artistry, strengthen service performance, and reinforce the Aveda mission and brand experience. The Technical Education Manager will oversee POD-based education initiatives, collaborate cross-functionally with sales and education partners, and ensure consistent, high-impact education delivery across all channels.
Field Education & Technical Training (50%)- Deliver advanced technical education and coaching for top salon accounts with a primary focus on hair color conversion, services, consultation, formulation, and corrective color.
- Conduct in-salon classes, workshops, demonstrations, and hands-on trainings that elevate technical performance, hair color formulation skills and support sales growth.
- Build strong relationships with key salon partners, owners, and service providers to strengthen engagement and loyalty to the brand.
- Support regional and national education events, shows, launches, and brand initiatives as needed.
- Provide real-time coaching and feedback to educators and salon teams to ensure excellence in execution and guest experience.
- Partner with sales leadership to identify education opportunities that drive business growth and service benchmarks.
Education Strategy & Execution (50%)- Create and implement the technical education execution strategy for the region across salon, spa, and Institute channels.
- Lead train-the-trainer programs to ensure consistent delivery of technical education standards and methodologies.
- Design education calendars, curriculum pathways, and learning experiences aligned with brand priorities and business objectives.
- Develop ongoing, effective execution plans to support new product launches, product sell-through, service innovations, and technical capability building.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify education gaps, business opportunities, and channel-specific learning needs.
- Reinforce and coach to standards, tools, and best practices for technical education delivery and educator development.
- Analyze education effectiveness and business impact through performance metrics, feedback, and service benchmarks
Leadership Responsibilities- Manage, coach, and develop a POD-based, cross-domain freelance education team, including the training, support, scheduling, and ongoing development of Aveda Purefessionals, Certified Educators, Ambassadors and Aveda Institute Coaches and Educators.
- Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Ensure education teams consistently deliver elevated, mission-aligned experiences that reflect Aveda values and technical standards.
Qualifications- Licensed cosmetologist with advanced expertise in hair color and technical salon education.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in technical education, salon training, or professional beauty education leadership.
- Strong understanding of professional salon business operations, retail and service performance drivers, and adult learning principles.
- Demonstrated experience developing education strategy, curriculum, and train-the-trainer programs.
- Exceptional facilitation, coaching, presentation, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to inspire and influence diverse audiences, from emerging artists to top salon owners and educators.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to travel up to 70% for field education, events, and business needs
- Computer proficiency in MAC and PC operations
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as business dictates including evenings and weekends as needed
- Ability to travel, lift up to 30 pounds occasionally and to transport own luggage while traveling
