Remote, Contract-based West Virginia Elder Law & Litigation Paralegal Opportunity - 10+ Hours/Week

The Freelance Firm, LLC

South Charleston, WV • Remote

$30 - $35/hr

Full-time

Posted 13 days ago

Job description

Welcome to The Freelance Firm!

We are a national network of experienced, high-level, freelance attorneys and paralegals who provide remote, on-demand support for both short-term and long-term legal projects for our client law firms.

Due to increased demand, we are now interviewing for a qualified, experienced, and dedicated Elder Law & Litigation Paralegal to provide ongoing remote support to a West Virginia law firm.

Remote work hours will vary, but are expected to be approximately 10+ hours per week to start, with strong potential for growth. The client is specifically seeking one dedicated paralegal who can provide both substantive litigation support and assistance with paperwork-driven elder law matters and client communications.

Paralegal Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years of law firm experience as a Paralegal
  • Strong, direct litigation paralegal experience
  • Litigation experience in elder law, probate, personal injury, or general civil litigation will be considered
  • Ability to provide litigation support including court filings, reviewing and organizing case materials, corresponding with opposing counsel, and proactively keeping matters moving
  • Experience assisting with procedural aspects of active litigation matters
  • Ability and willingness to handle both substantive litigation assignments and more routine paperwork and forms
  • Experience completing forms and documentation associated with non-litigation matters
  • Comfortable communicating directly and professionally with clients
  • Strong organizational and case-management skills with the ability to independently track assignments and deadlines
  • Must be comfortable working remotely and largely independently while supporting a solo attorney
  • Ability to take ownership of assignments and provide dependable, ongoing support without extensive supervision
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work product
  • Must have approximately 10+ hours per week of current availability, with the capacity to take on additional hours as the firm's needs grow
  • West Virginia legal experience is preferred but is not required; the client is open to strong litigation paralegals from other jurisdictions
  • Prior elder law, estate/probate, or personal injury litigation experience is preferred
  • Experience supporting a solo attorney or small law firm is a plus

The client specifically needs one versatile paralegal who can handle the full range of work, rather than someone interested only in higher-level litigation assignments. Litigation support is the priority, but the successful candidate must also be comfortable completing forms, handling paperwork, and communicating directly with clients.

Our Paralegal pay rate starts at $30/hour.
