Electrical Hardware Engineer | Up to $200,000 | Wallingford, CT | Direct Hire

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Hardware Engineer to lead the design and development of sophisticated electronic systems supporting next-generation products. This position offers the opportunity to work across the full product lifecycle, from concept and architecture through validation, production, and continuous product improvement. The ideal candidate combines strong hardware design expertise with systems-level thinking and enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative, high-performance solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop complex electronic hardware for new and existing products
  • Define system architectures and ensure successful integration across electrical, embedded, mechanical, thermal, and optical disciplines
  • Develop schematics, engineering documentation, and technical design packages
  • Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and technical decision-making throughout product development
  • Support prototype builds, product validation, troubleshooting, and root cause investigations
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to improve manufacturability, product reliability, and production efficiency
  • Evaluate engineering changes and implement product enhancements based on customer and manufacturing feedback
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineering team members
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Project Management to deliver projects on schedule
Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's preferred)
  • 8+ years of experience designing electronic hardware and electrical systems
  • Strong knowledge of system architecture and electronic product development
  • Experience with embedded systems and firmware interaction
  • Proficiency using electronic design (eCAD) tools and engineering documentation systems
  • Experience designing multi-layer PCB assemblies and electronic hardware
  • Working knowledge of C/C++, Python, or similar programming languages
  • Experience with DFMEA, design verification, validation testing, and engineering change processes
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
