What we need...
We're looking for a Network Automation Engineer to help transform the way the network infrastructure is built, operated, and maintained at COCC. This is a technical, hands-on engineering role focused on applying software development, automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles to enterprise networking.
You'll help drive the evolution of our network platforms from traditional device-by-device administration toward modern, automated operations leveraging APIs, GitOps workflows (including CI/CD pipelines), and automation frameworks like Ansible and Terraform. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in enterprise networking and experience scripting and automating network changes using Python, Ansible, Git, and Infrastructure as Code practices.

What you'll do...
• Design, develop, and maintain automation and deployment solutions for network provisioning, configuration management, validation, and compliance. You will use GitOps (including CI/CD pipelines), Ansible, or Terraform based on the requirements.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures documentation to improve consistency and reduce manual effort across our team
• Design and support traditional enterprise networking solutions across datacenter, campus, cloud, and SD-WAN in an environment that has strict security and availability requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex routing, switching, SD-WAN, and SDN issues and develop automated methods for detection, remediation, and validation
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve network operations through automation
• Serve as a technical mentor and subject matter expert for Infrastructure as Code, automation, and modern network engineering practices
**Proficiency with two or more of the following networking technologies is required
• Cisco IOS-XE, Cisco NX-OS, or Arista EOS
• Cisco ACI
• Cisco Intersight or UCSM
• Broadcom VMware NSX
• Arista VeloCloud SD-WAN
• Ansible
• Terraform or OpenTofu
• Scripting languages (Python, Bash)
• Version control systems (GitLab, GitHub)
• Grafana, Splunk, or observability platforms
What you'll bring...
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field preffered but will consider appropriate experience and/or certifications
  • 8+ years of experience in network engineering, infrastructure engineering, or network automation
  • Strong understanding of enterprise networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, routing, switching, and network security
  • A proven track record developing automation solutions using Python, Ansible, Terraform, and related tooling. We'd love to discuss details during your interview.
  • Experience working with APIs and programmatic infrastructure management
  • Experience using Git-based workflows and source control platforms like GitHub or GitLab.
  • Experience building or supporting CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments in enterprise environments, including Infrastructure as Code principles
  • Strong Linux CLI skills, including system navigation, troubleshooting, log analysis, text processing (grep, awk, sed, jq)
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills. We'd love to hear how you test what your working on, whether it's a lab at home, at work, or in the cloud.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, DevNet, AWS, Azure, Red Hat, or equivalent experience are a plus

Salary range is $127,500-$172,500 per year
