We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer with a strong background in Python and FastAPI to architect, develop, and deliver scalable, maintainable, and high-performance web applications. As a technical leader, you will guide the team in modern engineering practices, data modeling, and production excellence, ensuring robust solutions that meet business needs.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Project Ownership

  • Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of complex software solutions, ensuring alignment with business requirements and long-term maintainability.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of projects, from initial requirements to deployment and production support.
  • Mentor and guide team members, conducting code reviews and fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
  • Drive problem-solving efforts, finding simple, effective solutions to complex challenges.

Coding & Design

  • Design and develop asynchronous web applications using Python and FastAPI.
  • Apply and enforce SOLID principles, Separation of Concerns, and Dependency Injection (IoC) for modular, testable code.
  • Implement Hexagonal Architecture (Ports & Adapters), and leverage design patterns such as Factory, Repository, and Decorator to ensure clean, scalable solutions.
  • Group and lead best practices in coding standards, code organization, and technical documentation.

Data Modeling & Extraction

  • Design and optimize data models and structures based on evolving business requirements.
  • Identify data patterns, perform data extraction, and implement efficient data access and transformation strategies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into robust, scalable data solutions.

Production Systems & Observability

  • Lead production deployments and ensure high system reliability.
  • Implement observability practices, including custom metrics, logging, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Debug and resolve complex production issues, driving root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure robust exception management and proactive handling of system failures.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver impactful technology solutions.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning within the team.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of professional experience in Python web application development, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or lead engineer role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python, FastAPI (or similar frameworks), and asynchronous programming.
  • Proven experience in data modeling, designing data structures, and extracting actionable insights from data.
  • Track record of solving complex problems with simple, maintainable solutions while owning project delivery.
  • Demonstrated expertise in microservices & hexagonal architecture, ensuring data consistency across distributed services and applying design patterns such as Factory, Repository, and Decorator.
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.) and ORMs.
  • Production experience with deployment, observability (metrics, logging, monitoring), alerting, and debugging.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Excellent communication, mentorship, and team leadership skills.

  • Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Angular).
  • Familiarity with event-driven and distributed systems.
  • Experience with advanced analytics, machine learning, or big data processing.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 116,000 USD - 170,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
