What are Freelance Operations Consultants?

Freelance Operations Consultants are independent professionals who help organizations improve their business processes, efficiency, and overall operations on a contract or project basis. They analyze current workflows, identify areas for improvement, and recommend or implement solutions to optimize performance. Unlike full-time employees, they typically work with multiple clients and bring expertise from various industries. Their work can include streamlining supply chains, improving productivity, or advising on operational strategy. Hiring a freelance consultant allows companies to access specialized knowledge without long-term commitment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Freelance Operations Consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Operations Consultant, you need expertise in process optimization, project management, and business analysis, typically supported by a relevant degree or substantial industry experience. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Excel, project management software (e.g., Asana, Trello), and process mapping tools, as well as certifications like Six Sigma or PMP, is highly beneficial. Strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and adaptability set top consultants apart in client interactions and dynamic environments. These skills and qualities are essential for delivering measurable improvements, building client trust, and succeeding in varied operational contexts.

What are some common challenges Freelance Operations Consultants face when working with multiple clients simultaneously?

Freelance Operations Consultants often juggle several clients at once, which can present challenges such as managing competing deadlines, adapting quickly to different company cultures, and aligning with varying operational processes. Effective time management, clear communication, and establishing boundaries are essential to ensure quality results for each client. Consultants must also be adept at quickly assessing each client’s needs and tailoring solutions to fit diverse industries and organizational structures.

Supporting GTX Solutions (a CourtAvenue Company) on an enterprise B2B marketing transformation: a migration to Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) and Adobe Experience Platform (AEP)
Is this you?

You are an experienced marketing operations or campaign execution specialist who works on a contract basis, you can commit serious hours this summer, and you are comfortable being the operational backbone of a complex, multi-partner enterprise program. You like owning intake, QA, and delivery coordination, and you keep the trains running without being chased.

What you'll do
  • Run day-to-day campaign execution in Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO): setup, audience targeting, content associations, and deployment scheduling.
  • Own the intake process: briefing, capacity planning, and prioritization with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate QA across active journey builds (logic, targeting, content rendering, compliance) before anything deploys.
  • Be the operational point of contact between GTX, technical build partners, and the client's marketing team.
  • Maintain execution trackers, dashboards, and deployment calendars.
  • Support migration of legacy-platform campaigns into AJO.
  • Surface risks, blockers, and capacity constraints early.
What you need

Required:

  • 5+ years in marketing operations, campaign management, marketing automation execution, or program coordination.
  • Hands-on experience with an enterprise marketing automation platform. AJO and AEP are preferred, but we are open to strong experience on Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketo, or Oracle Eloqua; the right operator can ramp on AJO.
  • Proven QA and deployment discipline in a high-volume environment.
  • Comfort with PM tools (Asana, JIRA, Teamwork, or similar) and managing concurrent workstreams.
  • Strong communication across technical, strategic, and client-facing teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct AJO campaign execution and journey management.
  • AEP audiences, segments, and activation familiarity.
  • Experience on a B2B marketing platform migration.
  • MarTech consulting or agency delivery background.

GTX Solutions is currently serving as the data and activation execution partner on a large-scale B2B marketing transformation engagement for a major enterprise client. This program is migrating B2B marketing programs from a legacy marketing automation platform to Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) and Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), in partnership with a technical build partner, engagement lead, creative agency, and Adobe Professional Services.

The Journey Operations Manager is the execution backbone of the B2B marketing program, responsible for the day-to-day operational management of campaign builds, AJO journey deployments, QA processes, intake workflows, and delivery coordination across a complex multi-partner environment.
