Job description

About the role: We're seeking a Design Director to elevate Sakara Life's digital and visual presence while shaping the future of our growing wellness brand. In this role, you will lead the creation of user-centered designs across digital platforms — email campaigns, paid advertising, website, and social media — and contribute to print and packaging design. You'll oversee a junior designer, ensure a consistently elevated aesthetic across all outputs, and bring a sharp, forward-thinking sensibility to how Sakara shows up digitally. Partnering with Marketing, eCommerce, and Product Development teams, you'll deliver innovative visuals that enhance user experience, drive engagement, and reflect Sakara's unique aesthetic.

You'll love this role if: You're a creative problem solver who excels at transforming brand identity into captivating, functional designs — with a particular command of digital formats: email, paid media, and web. You're as fluent in performance-driven design as you are in brand storytelling, and you know how to use data and testing to sharpen your work. You stay ahead of design trends and AI developments in the industry, actively integrating new tools into your workflow. Collaboration is second nature to you, and you work effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive visuals that align with business goals. You thrive managing multiple projects and consistently deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines. Inspired by health and wellness, you are passionate about creating designs that resonate with an engaged, purpose-driven audience.

Responsibilities:

● Design high-performing assets for email campaigns, paid advertising, and social media — balancing brand integrity with conversion goals.

● Conceive and build net-new web pages and landing pages, owning the design from wireframe through final production.

● Oversee and mentor a manager-level designer, providing clear creative direction, feedback, and growth support.

● Collaborate with creative and cross-functional teams to maintain cohesive brand storytelling across all digital and print channels.

● Work on projects from concept development to final production, ensuring designs meet brand standards and business goals.

● Iterate on brand guidelines as needed for a unified visual identity.

● Manage multiple projects, meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. ● Stay on top of design trends — and actively track AI developments in the design space, integrating relevant tools and techniques into day-to-day workflows.

● Use AI-powered design tools to increase speed, quality, and creative range across the team. ● Build a template library for efficiency and consistency.

● Conduct A/B testing to optimize designs for performance and conversion. ● Oversee photo and video editing for marketing and digital assets.

● Support art direction for select campaign shoots, providing creative briefs and reviewing final retouched outputs.

Requirements:

● Bachelor's degree in Design, Digital Design, Fine Arts, or a related field.
● 8+ years of graphic design experience, with a portfolio showcasing exceptional work across digital (email, paid ads, web) and print.

● Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); familiarity with Figma or Sketch is a requirement.

● Strong understanding of typography, composition, color theory, and design fundamentals. ● Demonstrated experience designing for digital performance channels — email, paid social, and display advertising.

● Experience designing or contributing to web page builds, with an understanding of how design translates to development.

● Familiarity with AI design tools and a genuine interest in how AI is reshaping the design workflow.

● Knowledge of print production and file setup for various media formats. ● Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

● Proven experience coaching or managing junior designers or freelancers. ● A balance of creativity and strategic thinking, with an ability to leverage data-driven insights in design.

● Strong collaboration and communication skills; thrives in cross-functional teams. ● Passion for health, wellness, and creating designs that inspire and empower audiences.

Benefits:

● Health Insurance through Aetna

  • Medical (90% Coverage for Individual)
  • Dental & Vision (100% Coverage for Individual)

● Flexible Vacation

● 401k Program

● Pre-tax Commuter Benefits & Flexible Spending Account

● Paid Parental Leave

● Employer Paid Short Term Disability

● Discounts and credits on Sakara products

● Voluntary benefits such as Long Term Disability and Supplemental Life Insurance ● A vibrant and inclusive company culture

● The chance to make a meaningful impact on people's lives through wellness and nutrition

This role is a hybrid role partially based out of our office in NYC (2 days a week in office are required)
The salary range for this role is $150,000.00-$170,000.00.
