Overview
David Yurman is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated paralegal to join the Legal department and work on a range of legal and compliance matters, primarily focused on intellectual property and brand enforcement. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, the paralegal must be highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously as a key player on a small legal team.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in the filing and prosecution of trademarks, patents and copyrights and maintain the company's global intellectual property portfolio
  • Assist in all phases of the trademark process by conducting gap analyses, clearance searches/analyses, providing trademark evaluations and recommendations, and overseeing maintenance and renewals
  • Work directly with outside counsel to align intellectual property activities worldwide with business objectives
  • Drive global brand protection strategy by conducting brand enforcement investigations, monitoring online marketplaces and social media platforms, and overseeing civil/criminal investigations
  • Manage pre-litigation brand enforcement activity including by collecting evidence, and drafting cease and desist letters and other notice and takedown requests
  • Review marketing collateral for FTC and IP compliance
  • Assist the General Counsel in a variety of other matters including privacy, litigation, and employment
  • Conduct legal research on a variety of business and legal matters
  • Assist in coordinating cross-functional projects and implementing legal initiatives
  • Provide administrative support for the Legal department
  • Other duties as required or assigned

Required Qualifications
  • BA/BS
  • Possesses excellent attention to detail and follows through on deliverables
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize across a range of matters to meet timelines in a fast-paced organization
  • Eager to take ownership over work product and able to advance work independently, but also to use good judgment and escalate issues when needed
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Willing to "roll up your sleeves" and do what it takes to accomplish team objectives
  • High degree of professionalism and intellectual curiosity
  • Prior experience in a legal environment, ideally as an IP paralegal

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience filing electronic documents with the USPTO and USCO
  • Working knowledge of US trademark and copyright rules and procedures

Estimate Salary Range: $85,000 - $100,000
Base pay is one component of David Yurman's total compensation package, which may also include the following for eligible employees: access to healthcare benefits, 401(k) plan, bonus, employee discounts, Summer Fridays (corporate roles), generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
