Job description

As a Senior Editor, Brand & Narrative on our Editorial team, you will supervisea team of editorial specialists and drive content to align with brand and messaging standards. The Senior Editor will work alongside a dynamic team of marketing, communications, and copywriter professionals implementing engaging and effective content strategies that inspire movements of millions of people to participate in new and better ways to tackle our country's biggest problems. These strategies span multiple channels and platforms, including web articles, video publishing assets, paid ads, and organic social channels, among others. 

 The ideal candidate brings experience in marketing and communications, publishing, journalism, and/or related fields to support day-to-day implementation and long-term strategic projects. As Senior Editor, you'll be responsible for working across multiple teams in a highly matrixed organization, liaising with external agency partners, ensuring all content adheres to our brand guidelines, and applying an entrepreneurial mindset to continuously identify opportunities to optimize content against defined goals and KPIs.  

How You Will Contribute

Content Editing and Strategy 

  • Review and revise content produced by a team of copywriters, ensuring clarity of messaging, adherence to brand standards (positioning, tone, voice), accuracy (spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax), and quality assurance.  

  • Partner with internal stakeholders as marketing campaigns take shape, advising on what editorial can bring to the table - and then executing with your team of writers and/or freelancers.  

  • Partner with the intelligence and digital teams to track audience data and engagement metrics against KPIs that effectively measure the impact and success of written content; continuously identify opportunities to optimize current and future content accordingly.  

  • Identify gaps and recommend updates to brand content and style guides.  

 Communication and Collaboration 

  • Develop communication touchpoints with key stakeholders to ensure an effective two-way flow of knowledge and feedback that best supports and advances content objectives. 

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure final products align with diverse audience interests and perspectives.  

  • Partner with the production team to ensure that website content is published on time and in accordance with quality assurance standards.  

  • Liaise with agency partners where appropriate, including content briefings and drafts.  

What You Will Bring
  • 7+ years of professional experience in marketing and communications, publishing, journalism, and/or related fields,demonstrating career growth and an intimate familiarity with the latest content best practices and trends. 

  • 2+ years of supervising a team.  

  • Proven success in translating organizational vision and messaging into compelling content 

  • Demonstrated experience with understanding the needs of different audiences/stakeholder groups and finding mutually beneficial solutions when those needs appear to be at odds. 

  • A highly organized approach with proven ability to deliver to tight deadlinesand work within a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment requiring quick execution and flexibility. 

  • Superior written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Extreme attention to detail. 

  • Baseline knowledge of SEO. 

  • Preference for exposure to agency relations (as a client or agency representative).

$120,000 - $145,000 a year

For this role, the anticipated base salary range is $120,000-$145,000 per year. This role may also be eligible for additional bonus compensation designed to align total compensation with an employee's overall contribution to the organization.
