What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Freelance Data Processing Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Freelance Data Processing Specialist, you need a strong grasp of data management, statistical analysis, and attention to detail, often supported by relevant education or experience in data-related fields. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Excel, SQL, Python, or specialized data processing software, as well as certifications in data analytics, is highly beneficial. Excellent problem-solving, time management, and communication skills help freelancers deliver accurate results and manage client relationships effectively. These skills ensure high-quality, reliable data outputs and enable independent professionals to meet diverse project requirements on time.

What are some common challenges freelance data processing professionals face when managing multiple client projects?

Freelance data processing professionals often juggle several projects with varying deadlines, data formats, and client expectations. A key challenge is maintaining data accuracy and consistency while working with diverse datasets and tools for each client. Effective communication and clear agreements on deliverables are essential to avoid misunderstandings. Additionally, freelancers must stay organized to manage their workload, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely delivery, all while adapting quickly to new technologies or client-specific requirements.

Job description

About the Company

Our mission is to help customers save time and money when purchasing commercial kitchen equipment and supplies by providing a customer-centric shopping experience and leveraging our industry buying power.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Freelance eCommerce CRO & UX/UI Designer to drive measurable improvements across the RestaurantSupply.com eCommerce experience. This is not a traditional visual design role. The primary objective of this position is to increase conversion rate and revenue through data-driven UX/UI improvements, experimentation, and continuous optimization. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record of improving the commercial performance of high-traffic eCommerce websites. You should be able to identify friction in the customer journey, analyze behavioral and performance data, develop optimization hypotheses, design solutions in Figma, and collaborate with developers and A/B testing teams to validate results. We are looking for someone who can point to specific work they personally owned and explain how their designs contributed to measurable improvements in conversion rate, revenue per visitor, average order value, engagement, or other key eCommerce KPIs. This is a part-time freelance engagement requiring a high degree of independence, ownership, curiosity, and accountability for results.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer behavior, website analytics, session recordings, and performance data to proactively identify conversion barriers and revenue opportunities.
  • Develop UX hypotheses and recommend improvements designed to increase conversion rate, revenue per visitor, average order value, and other key eCommerce KPIs.
  • Design high-quality, conversion-focused user experiences and interfaces in Figma that are clearly structured, documented, and ready for developer implementation.
  • Optimize critical eCommerce experiences, including navigation, search, category and product pages, cart, checkout, calls to action, product discovery, and other key customer journeys.
  • Partner closely with developers and the A/B testing team to turn UX hypotheses into measurable experiments.
  • Design variations for A/B and multivariate testing and iterate based on quantitative results and customer behavior.
  • Use tools such as Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar, or similar platforms to understand customer behavior and support design decisions with data.
  • Evaluate experiment results and translate findings into actionable recommendations for future optimization.
  • Ensure the website maintains a professional, polished, corporate, and trustworthy experience that builds customer confidence throughout the purchasing journey.
  • Maintain consistency across design systems, components, layouts, and interaction patterns while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Work independently to identify and prioritize high-impact opportunities rather than relying solely on assigned design requests.
  • Stay current on eCommerce UX, conversion optimization, experimentation, and usability best practices and apply relevant insights to RestaurantSupply.com.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional UX/UI or Product Design experience, with significant experience designing for high-traffic eCommerce websites.
  • Demonstrated success designing UX/UI improvements that produced measurable increases in conversion rate, revenue, revenue per visitor, average order value, or other commercial KPIs.
  • A strong portfolio featuring eCommerce work that clearly demonstrates your personal contribution, design process, experimentation approach, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Advanced proficiency with Figma or comparable web-based design and prototyping tools.
  • Hands-on experience with conversion rate optimization (CRO), A/B testing, experimentation, and usability optimization.
  • Experience using behavioral and analytics tools such as Google Analytics/GA4, Microsoft Clarity, Hotjar, Optimizely, VWO, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of eCommerce customer journeys, including product discovery, navigation, search, product detail pages, cart, checkout, and conversion funnels.
  • Ability to translate quantitative data, qualitative customer behavior, and business objectives into clear UX recommendations and design solutions.
  • Experience working closely with developers to ensure designs are technically feasible and accurately implemented.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high standard for visual quality, consistency, organization, and documentation.
  • Highly self-directed and comfortable proactively identifying opportunities, developing recommendations, and taking ownership of results.

Required Skills

  • Experience optimizing large-scale or high-revenue eCommerce platforms.
  • Experience with B2B eCommerce or complex product catalogs.
  • Experience working with eCommerce platforms such as Shopify.
  • Experience demonstrating significant incremental revenue or conversion growth attributable to UX/CRO initiatives you personally designed.
  • Experience working in a rapid experimentation environment with frequent A/B testing and iterative releases.

Pay range and compensation package

This is an independent freelance/contract engagement and does not include employee benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, or paid time off.

Equal Opportunity Statement

We believe that where you work and what you do matters. We foster a supportive and collaborative environment where team members can grow professionally while contributing to meaningful work.

Working Hours

This is a remote, part-time freelance position open to candidates based in the United States. Working hours are flexible; however, the freelancer must have sufficient availability during U.S. business hours to collaborate with internal stakeholders, developers, and the A/B testing team. The expected weekly time commitment and engagement schedule will be established based on business needs and project priorities.

Why Work With Us?

We believe that what you do and where you work matters. We foster a collaborative and professional environment where you have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships and see the direct impact of your contributions on our shared success. In this role, your work will have a highly measurable impact. You will have the opportunity to identify opportunities, test ideas, and directly influence the performance of a high-traffic eCommerce business through improvements to conversion, customer experience, and revenue.

Perks and Benefits

  • Fully remote work flexibility.
  • Flexible part-time schedule.
  • Opportunity to work on a high-traffic, established eCommerce platform.
  • Direct access to analytics, behavioral insights, and experimentation opportunities.
  • Ability to see the measurable impact of your designs through A/B testing and performance data.
  • Close collaboration with development, eCommerce, and experimentation teams.
  • Opportunity for an ongoing freelance relationship based on performance and business needs.
