Job Title: Audio Visual Systems Engineer (AV Integration)

Summary

The Audio Visual (A/V) Systems Engineer is responsible for translating client needs and project requirements into high-quality, technically sound audiovisual system designs. This role combines technical engineering expertise with creative problem-solving to deliver designs that align with company standards, exceed client expectations, and support seamless implementation by project and installation teams.


The A/V Systems Engineer partners closely with Sales, Engineering, and Project Management throughout the full project lifecycle and communicates directly with clients and partners when needed to ensure alignment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer A/V solutions across a wide range of environments, including conference rooms, classrooms, corporate HQ, stadiums & arenas, performance spaces, and themed entertainment spaces.
  • Develop audiovisual drawings in accordance with design and engineering standards, including floor plans, ceiling plans, elevations, rack layouts, details, single line signal flow diagrams, device mounting details, AV connection details, and electrical and structural coordination requirements.
  • Write scope of work narratives and bid specifications when needed.
  • Create and validate final equipment lists and bills of materials based on project requirements and budgets.
  • Conduct site surveys and needs analysis meetings; document findings and incorporate them into system designs.
  • Collaborate with Account Executives and Project Managers to define project scopes, estimates, and proposals.
  • Perform acoustic and lighting assessments to recommend system requirements, including color temperature, light intensity, and acoustic treatment.
  • Support project teams through design reviews, installation quality validation, and technical guidance for installers and technicians.
  • Provide technical support for service teams and serve as a resource for high-profile or escalated client issues.
  • Coordinate with related trades, including IT, electrical, structural, and HVAC, to ensure integration requirements are met.
  • Stay current with A/V industry standards, product advancements, and emerging technologies.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor for A/V Technical Staff.
  • Build and maintain strong client-facing communication and collaborative relationships across teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the Audio-Visual industry, with at least 2 years in a design or engineering capacity.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Strong product knowledge across Pro Audio, Video, Display, Projection, Digital Signage, Control Systems, Conferencing platforms, and networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with AV systems estimating and working with major AV manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to partner across departments and with clients.
  • Ability to travel periodically for site surveys, project meetings, or installation support.

Preferences

  • Technical degree in electrical, mechanical, computer engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with Revit/BIM, Bluebeam, and EASE analysis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Visio and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of projection manufacturer lens calculators.
  • Familiarity with AVIXA standards.
  • CTS or CTS-D certification.
  • Experience with Control Systems including Crestron, AMX, Extron, Biamp, and Q-Sys.
  • Networking certifications, such as CCNA.
  • Manufacturer certifications, such as Q-Sys, Crestron DM, Biamp Tesira, or similar.
