Overview

Ontrac Solutions is hiring a Senior DevSecOps Engineer (Traditional Infrastructure Focus) on behalf of our client. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who works at the intersection of development, security, and traditional on-premise infrastructure operations. The right candidate will help bridge modern DevSecOps practices with legacy and bare-metal environments, supporting secure, reliable, and scalable infrastructure operations.

This individual will work closely with client stakeholders and technical teams to support critical infrastructure initiatives from planning through execution. The role requires strong hands-on experience with traditional infrastructure, network security, automation, and CI/CD practices in complex enterprise environments.

Required Credentials
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience in DevSecOps, network security operations, systems infrastructure, or traditional on-premise support
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Required Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in Perl, with the ability to maintain and enhance legacy operational tools and scripts that support critical on-premise environments
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise networking infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN technologies
  • Strong knowledge of traditional network and security platforms such as Juniper SRX/MX, Cisco, and related enterprise infrastructure tools
  • Deep experience with Linux and Unix-based systems, including environments such as RHEL and FreeBSD, operating in bare-metal or traditional infrastructure settings
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI, including integrating automated security testing into deployment workflows
  • Proficiency in additional scripting and automation languages such as Python and Bash
  • Familiarity with configuration management and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Terraform, particularly in traditional server and network environments
  • Strong understanding of core networking and security protocols, including BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, IPsec VPNs, and MACSec
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant security certifications such as CISM, CISSP, or CEH
  • Experience with monitoring, telemetry, and alerting platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack
  • Familiarity with packet filtering and host-based firewall technologies such as iptables and IPFW
  • Working knowledge of structured data formats including JSON, YAML, and XML
Key Responsibilities
  • Implement security practices and controls within CI/CD pipelines to help ensure infrastructure and application configurations are scanned and validated for vulnerabilities
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance automation scripts using Perl, Python, and shell scripting to reduce manual effort across provisioning and operational workflows
  • Support and manage traditional on-premise and bare-metal infrastructure environments
  • Operate and maintain physical network security infrastructure, including firewall policies, VPN configurations, and routing security
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and network security issues, including incident response support and DDoS-related mitigation efforts
  • Support security monitoring and observability tools used across traditional infrastructure environments
  • Maintain and support centralized authentication and access systems such as TACACS+ and RADIUS
  • Assist with server patching, upgrades, and ongoing infrastructure reliability efforts
  • Partner with client stakeholders and technical teams to deliver secure, stable, and scalable infrastructure solutions
