Overview

A well-established early childhood services organization is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to take ownership of day-to-day operations, strengthen internal systems, and support continued growth.

The organization provides early intervention, preschool, school-age, autism, evaluation, and therapy-related services for children and families. This is a complex, high-volume service business involving providers, families, documentation, compliance, scheduling, billing coordination, and strong operational follow-through.

The COO will work closely with ownership and senior leadership to ensure the organization runs smoothly, efficiently, and consistently across departments and service lines.

This is a hands-on executive role for someone who can bring structure, accountability, and operational discipline to a growing organization without overcomplicating the business.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day operations across the organization

Manage and support department leaders, operational teams, and service delivery functions

Strengthen systems, workflows, reporting structures, and internal accountability

Improve communication, execution, and follow-through across departments

Ensure smooth coordination between intake, evaluations, scheduling, providers, documentation, billing, compliance, and family-facing services

Identify operational gaps and implement practical, real-world solutions

Build scalable processes that support continued growth and consistency

Partner closely with ownership on priorities, decisions, and expansion initiatives

Support strong service delivery while maintaining compliance and documentation standards

Create clear expectations, performance standards, and accountability across the organization

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a strong, hands-on operator who knows how to run a complex service-based organization, manage leaders, and build structure in a fast-moving environment.

This person should have:

Proven experience in a senior operations leadership role, such as COO, VP of Operations, Director of Operations, Executive Director, or equivalent

Strong experience leading a complex healthcare, education, therapy, ABA, homecare, behavioral health, social services, or field-based service organization

Experience managing high-volume service delivery, scheduling, documentation, compliance, and operational workflows

Ability to oversee multiple departments and create alignment across teams

Strong leadership skills with the ability to hold people accountable

Experience building systems, processes, reporting structures, and KPIs

Ability to work closely with ownership and execute priorities effectively

Strong follow-through, problem-solving, and operational discipline

Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to get things done

Comfort operating in an entrepreneurial, growing organization
