Form Carpenter at Shiel Sexton:

A Form Carpenter at Shiel Sexton performs commercial and industrial construction and remodeling, interior systems, interior and exterior finish, blueprint reading, transit operations, scaffolding, and safety.

Role Expectations and Competencies:

  • Completes tasks with close attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates ability to contribute value in a team setting.
  • Exhibits an established and growing technical expertise in the field.
  • Achieves tangible results in the face of complex problems.
  • Assures that the Concrete crew acts with integrity and employs ethical behavior during all stages of the project and follows the Shiel Sexton “Expect More” brand.
  • Ability to effectively communicate through verbal communication.
  • Layout including building lines, elevations, walls, and partition layout
  • Must know how to use a laser;
  • Formwork knowledge for walls, columns, etc.
  • Forming slab on grade, walls, structural decks, sitework, etc.
  • Experience in building and setting anchor bolt templates.
  • Experience in Peri/Symons panels setting and wrecking.
  • Safety, including scaffold systems, shoring, weather protection, and installation of fall protection systems;
  • Misc. administrative duties as assigned.

 Experience and Qualifications:

  • Must have 3-5 years of carpentry experience
  • Must know how to use a transit/tape-on laser
  • Preferred OSHA 10 certification, construction-specific
  • Commercial construction experience preferred
  • Carpenters require a broad range of physical abilities.
  • Requires adequate vision (corrected) and hearing so as not to pose a hazard to self or others.
  • Requires alertness to potential hazards common to a construction site.
