Forensic Structural Engineer - Remote - Dallas, TX

If you are a Structural Engineer aiming to grow your career within forensics structural assessments & inspections, then our Forensics Structural Engineer opportunity will provide you with a fulfilling position having you take full ownerships of projects, while building the team around you.
As our Forensics Structural Engineer, you will manage structural forensic engineering assignments, perform forensic engineering assessments, provide verbal/written reports for insurance carriers, attorneys, homeowners, property manager, etc.
You will also serve as an expert for multiple litigation cases. This requires constant travel within 150 miles of your office location and occasional travel for work with other NV5 office locations/staff or geographic regions.

Responsibilities
Other Responsibilities include:
  • Communication with clients before and after site visit and post report production, to review/clarify scopes and explain observations and findings.
  • Perform on-site interviews with a variety of individuals to collect histories, data, concerns, etc.
  • Photograph site conditions with an eye to explain conditions and determining cause of loss.
  • Review codes, standards, research and apply critical formulation of facts to develop conclusions that assist clients resolve concerns and are defensible.
  • Maintain good project data management/storage practices.
  • Supervise, when appropriate, junior engineer (EI's) in field work, report development, and research.
  • Develop reports that outline site observations, applicable codes, standards, findings, and conclusions.
  • Testify in legal proceeding, when required, in correlation to work product.

Qualifications
If you possess the following experience & qualifications, then we encourage you to apply.
  • B.S. Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architecture Engineering.
  • M.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred.
  • Residential and/or Commercial inspection & assessment experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of building codes and standards and construction practices is required. Litigation experience is a plus.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in Florida, or ability to obtain one within 6 months of start date.
