 Football Equipment Manager High School and Middle School 

Positions Available: (1)

Position Summary

The Football Equipment Manager is responsible for the management, distribution, maintenance, inventory control, and safety compliance of all football equipment for the Erie School District Football Program (Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School).

This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with PIAA, NFHS, PDE, and NOCSAE regulations and supporting athlete safety standards consistent with a PIAA program.

Collaborates with Athletic Trainer and Building Administration

Qualifications

  • Experience managing athletic equipment, preferably football.
  • Knowledge of PIAA, NFHS, and NOCSAE equipment standards.
  • Understanding of proper helmet and shoulder pad fitting protocols.
  • Strong organizational, inventory management, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to lift, transport, and manage heavy equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended seasonal hours.
  • Urban student experience preferred.

Required Clearances & Certifications

  • Act 34 PA Criminal History Clearance
  • Act 151 Child Abuse Clearance
  • Act 114 FBI Fingerprint Clearance
  • Mandated Reporter Training
  • Concussion Awareness Certification and Sudden Cardiac (NFHS)
  • Completion of all required district compliance trainings

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all helmets and protective equipment meet NOCSAE standards and are annually reconditioned and certified.
  • Maintain documentation of serial numbers, reconditioning dates, and compliance records.
  • Remove damaged or non-compliant equipment from circulation immediately.
  • Ensure adherence to all PIAA and NFHS equipment regulations.
  • Support district concussion and emergency action protocols.

Inventory & Equipment Operations

  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory system for Varsity, JV, and Middle School football equipment.
  • Supervise distribution, fitting, tracking, and collection of all equipment and uniforms.
  • Conduct pre-season and post-season equipment audits.
  • Maintain secure and organized equipment storage areas.
  • Coordinate ordering and replacement of equipment in collaboration with the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
  • Adhere to district purchasing and budget procedures.

Game & Practice Responsibilities

  • Attend all home football games (MS, JV, Varsity).
  • Attend designated practices to manage equipment needs.
  • Coordinate transport, setup, and breakdown of equipment for home and away contests.

Off-Season Responsibilities

  • Conduct post-season inventory and damage assessments.
  • Coordinate helmet and pad reconditioning process.
  • Develop equipment replacement plan aligned with safety standards.
  • Participate in planning meetings with the Athletic Department.

Professional Expectations

  • Demonstrate professionalism and ethical conduct at all times.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with coaches, student-athletes, and staff.
  • Represent Erie's Public Schools in a professional and responsible manner.

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated by the Head Football Coach and Director of Athletics in accordance with district policies and the Athletic Handbook.
