Operations Manager — Floor Coverings International
Location: 2809 Newby Rd SW Suite 114 Bldg 5, Huntsville, AL 35805
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday
Compensation: $50,000–$60,000/year, based on experience, plus bonus opportunities
Drive the Operations That Power the Business
You know flooring. You know how to keep a crew on schedule, a customer happy, and an office running like clockwork — even when things go sideways all at once. If that's you, we want to talk.
Floor Coverings International is a locally owned, family-run franchise, and we're looking for an Operations Manager to be the glue that holds our day-to-day together — the first friendly voice our customers hear, and the steady hand that keeps our sales team, installers, and warehouse moving in sync.
This isn't a desk-only job. You'll run the office, but you'll also be out in the field when it counts — checking in on jobs, walking sites, and making sure every installation lives up to our promise: a 5-star experience, every time.
What You'll Own
  • Customers: Be the main point of contact from first call to final walkthrough — building relationships that keep our reviews at 5/5
  • Scheduling: Turn leads into booked appointments for the sales team and keep every calendar (sales, install, delivery) running without collisions
  • Crews & Installers: Coordinate start dates, timelines, and daily progress with our installation teams; troubleshoot in real time when things shift
  • Sales Team Sync: Meet weekly to review recent sales and upcoming production, keeping everyone aligned
  • Materials: Order product accurately for each job and follow up to make sure it lands on-site on time
  • Change Orders: Document and obtain written customer approval for any changes to contracted work
  • Office & Warehouse: Keep both organized and presentable
  • Systems: Technology is a core part of this role — update systems daily via the Production Dashboard so every job's status is accurate and visible, and stay comfortable navigating the software tools that keep our operation running
What You Bring
  • Experience in office, production, or operations management — flooring or home services background strongly preferred
  • Strong communicator, equally comfortable on the phone, in person, and coordinating with crews on-site
  • Highly organized with sharp attention to detail and a real knack for multitasking
  • Self-starter who can run the day independently, without someone looking over your shoulder
  • Comfortable managing multiple moving pieces at once: crews, calendars, salespeople, and customers
 Why Join Floor Coverings International
  • $50,000–$60,000/year based on experience, plus bonus potential
  • Paid time off
  • Paid Holidays
  • Cell phone allowance
  • Reimbursed gas mileage for field visits
  • Company-provided computer
  • Paid training to set you up for success
  • A genuinely family-owned environment — not a corporate call center
About the owner:
Married for 18 years and a proud dad of two, James stays busy keeping up with his kids—Maci (15) and Kyle (10)—and their full schedules of track, dance, flag football, and travel baseball. Most of their free time is spent on the sidelines cheering them on, something he wouldn’t trade for anything. The family also recently added a Boston Terrier puppy, Dixie, who is already keeping everyone on their toes.
James has called Huntsville home for the past eight years, and it truly feels like home. Professionally, he started his career as a computer programmer but quickly found his passion in consulting and project management. Most recently, he worked with Deloitte in their federal government consulting unit, supporting Defense and Justice clients through technology implementations and business process improvements.
Now, James is excited to begin a new chapter as the owner of a Floor Coverings International franchise here in Huntsville. He is passionate about serving his local community and looks forward to helping homeowners bring their vision to life with a seamless, customer-focused experience.
