Job Description Summary
The Athletics Film Coordinator - Football is responsible for all aspects of football film operations at the University of La Verne. This includes filming practices and games, editing and uploading footage, maintaining film equipment, and operating the team's replay system. The coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the coaching staff's preparation and in-game decision-making by ensuring accurate, timely, and organized film resources.
Under the supervision of the Head Football Coach and Athletics Director, the Football Film Coordinator films all practices and games, edits and organizes footage for coaching review, operates and maintains the replay system during games, and ensures all film equipment is properly maintained. The coordinator also assists with broader game day operations as needed.
Specific Duties
  • Filming - Practices & Games - Film all football practices and home/away games from assigned angles. Ensure complete and uninterrupted coverage of all plays from snap to whistle. 45%

  • Film Upload & Organization - Upload game and practice film to the team's film platform in a timely manner following each session. Label, tag, and organize footage by date, type (practice/game), and play category as directed by coaching staff. 15%

  • Film Editing - Edit game and practice film to produce cut-ups, highlight clips, and opponent scouting reels as directed. Use designated video software to trim, annotate, and compile clips for coaching review. 15%

  • Replay System Operation - Set up and operate the iPad-based replay system during games and practice. Connect iPad(s) to the replay system and ensure real-time video is accessible to coaches on the sideline and in the press box. 10%

  • Equipment Maintenance & Setup - Maintain, transport, and set up all film equipment including cameras, tripods, tablets, cables, and charging stations.
    Conduct pre-game and pre-practice equipment checks. Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor promptly. 10%

  • Other Duties as Assigned - Assist with additional game day operations, special projects, or media duties as directed by the coaching staff or Athletics department. 5%

Minimum Qualifications
A. Education / Degrees Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED (enrolled ULV student)

B. Required Minimum Experience:
  • Basic knowledge of football (rules, positions, and play structure)
  • Experience operating a video camera, DSLR, or mobile recording device
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment (minimum 25 lbs.)
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Willingness to learn new software and technology tools
  • Punctuality and reliability; must be available for all scheduled practices and games

C. Required Minimum Knowledge and Skills:
  • Familiarity with video recording equipment (cameras, tripods, stabilizers)
  • Basic computer skills, including file management and cloud storage
  • Ability to operate an iPad and connect to external devices/systems
  • Organizational skills to manage and label large volumes of video files
  • Ability to work independently and under time pressure on game days

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with video editing software (Hudl, Krossover, Adobe Premiere, iMovie, or similar)
  • Prior experience filming or working in a sports film/media role
  • Familiarity with iPad-based replay systems (e.g., Coach's Eye, XOS, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of football offensive and defensive schemes
  • Experience uploading and organizing footage on film platforms (Hudl, XOS, etc.)
  • Strong verbal communication skills are required for real-time coordination with coaching staff.

Employees are eligible for the following benefits:
One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.
University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan - can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.
In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.
