Position Summary

The Foodservice Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales growth, customer retention, and market expansion within the foodservice seafood sector. This role leads and develops a high-performing sales team while managing key customer relationships across distributors, restaurant groups, institutional accounts, and other foodservice channels. The ideal candidate will possess strong seafood industry knowledge, a deep understanding of the foodservice market, and the ability to align customer needs with operational capabilities in a fast-paced, perishable product environment.

Key Responsibilities


Leadership & Team Development

ยท Promote a positive, collaborative company and team culture.

ยท Recruit, lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing foodservice sales team.

ยท Hold team members accountable for sales volume, margin growth, customer retention, and business development goals.

ยท Drive the adoption of best practices in sales strategy, customer relationship management, market development, tools and techniques.

ยท Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and ongoing sales training.

Foodservice Sales & Business Development

ยท Create new business opportunities with distributors, restaurant chains, independent operators, healthcare, hospitality, and institutional accounts by identifying where improvements can be made; develop sales plans and strategies to execute on them.

ยท Establish, maintain, and grow strong relationships with customers, ensuring loyalty.

ยท Be an expert in the field. Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to identify opportunities and risks.

ยท Collaborate with other sales managers and leadership to share market intelligence and growth opportunities.

ยท Travel as needed for trade shows, industry events, and customer visits to strengthen relationships, maintain industry presence and increase market knowledge.


Customer & Account Management

ยท Serve as the liaison between customers, sales, operations, and executive management.

ยท Review customer activity, anticipate consumer needs and improve customer satisfaction.

ยท Verify net pricing and programs; approve sales orders within authorization level.

ยท Approve customer specifications.

ยท Review bids/quotes/contracts for the food service segment, approve within established authorization level and make recommendations to management when outside of authorization levels.

Forecasting & Operational Coordination

ยท Validate customer forecasts and monitor sales performance against projections.

ยท Coordinate forecast changes with planning, procurement, production, and logistics teams to ensure product availability and service continuity.

ยท Allocate product within the food service team, based on segment allocations.

ยท Recognize constraints, provide solutions, and align with the customer on updated timelines.

ยท Proactively identify potential issues and bring recommended solutions to management.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

ยท Partner cross-departmentally to support customer success and operational efficiency.

ยท Collaborate with customers, marketing, and graphic design, on new or updated artwork, packaging, and promotional materials.

ยท Support new product development initiatives.


Qualifications

ยท Proven track record of achieving sales growth and managing key foodservice accounts.

ยท Minimum 5โ€“7 years of foodservice sales experience, preferably within the seafood or perishable food industry.

ยท Minimum of 3-4 years of supervisory experience.

ยท Bachelorโ€™s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field preferred.

ยท Strong understanding of seafood products, supply chain logistics, and foodservice distribution channels.

ยท Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

ยท Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

ยท Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

ยท Proficiency in CRM systems, forecasting, and Microsoft Office applications.

ยท Ability and willingness to travel as needed.


Benefits and Salary Range

The Salary range for this position is $200,000 to $250,000 a year. Eastern Fisheries, Inc. offers a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, paid vacation, and paid holidays. Most benefits become available within 30โ€“90 days of employment eligibility requirements.


Work Location: This position may be based either at our headquarters or remotely, depending on the candidate's location. Candidates within commuting distance of our headquarters are expected to work on-site, while those located outside the area may be considered for remote work. 


Work Environment

This position operates in a fast-paced seafood sales and operations environment requiring flexibility, strong communication skills, and collaboration across multiple departments and customer channels. The role will involve regular travel to customer locations, trade shows, and industry events.
