Job description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To support the tasks of food handling to and from the kitchen to resident areas. As well as maintaining clean, orderly areas of service. To provide prompt and accurate dining services to residents.
The person in this role is also expected to:
  • Uphold and put into daily practice the values of Carol Woods.
  • Support the well-being and quality of life of every individual resident.
  • Function as a good steward of resident resources.
  • Contribute to Carol Woods approach to continual quality improvement.
  • Support the concepts of a learning organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Provide all necessary food services to all dining room areas. As part of interdisciplinary team assist with serving resident meals.
  • Follows diet orders and NPO orders
  • Uses proper food handling processes, procedures and policies
  • Uses serving equipment (ladle, spoon, scoops, etc.)
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized work areas in accordance with guidelines and completes daily/weekly tasks as assigned.
  • Complies with infection control policies in the work area
  • Organize and maintain all dining services storage areas.
  • Records freezer and walk-in refrigerator temperatures in accordance with established procedures
  • Cleans work area at the end of shift and after meals, including sweeping and mopping
  • Scrapes dishes, washes dishes, pots and pans.
  • Checks stock as needed and stores in an appropriate manner according to facility guidelines
  • Prepare and deliver on schedule the daily supplemental nourishments.
  • Operates the coffee & tea maker, dish machine, Biodigester, mixer, blender, waffle maker. SuzyQ
  • Communicates well with patients/residents/clients and family members providing warm and friendly greeting and an approachable attitude to families, visitors, patients/residents/clients and responds to expressed concerns while displaying a helpful, caring demeanor. Answers questions when appropriate in a professional manner.
  • Properly stores leftovers/ opened food.
  • Cleans kitchen equipment such as, carts, tables, counters, ice machine, buckets, blender, mixer, meat slicer, freezer, refrigerator, stove, steamer, garbage disposal, dish machine coffee/ tea maker, steam table etc.
  • Checks and records water temperature (dishwasher, pot and pan sink, etc.)
  • Follows established safety procedures when performing tasks and/or working with equipment.
  • Follows established safety regulations, to include fire protection & prevention, smoking regulations, infection control, etc
  • Complies with corporate compliance program.
  • Honors patients/residents' rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints.
  • Attends and participates in mandatory in-services, staff meetings and culture day
  • All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
  • High school degree or equivalent
Experience:
  • Food service experience preferred.
  • Previous work in a health care setting is a preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Standing and walking most of the time, lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds
