Alongside a manager who will help coordinate and lead operations, you’ll help oversee staff, collaborate with teammates, and help where needed. We are seeking a reliable and detailed oriented Food Service Supervisor to support daily operations in a fully kosher-certified kitchen.  Someone who is also passionate about great food, great people, and creating a welcoming dining experience for students and faculty.  This role combines hands on culinary leadership, operational support, strict adherence to kosher standards while helping to deliver a welcoming dining experience for students, staff, and guests.

You will report to Food Service Manager works closely with the Food Service Manager to maintain smooth kitchen operations, kitchen safety, uphold kashrut compliance as set out by BCK, and support team performance in a fast-paced institutional environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support daily food service operations with a strong emphasis on kosher compliance in accordance with Orthodox Council of BC (Kosher Check) standards.
  • Perform and support mashgiach responsibilities, including ingredient verification, supervision of food preparation, and koshering of equipment and small wares.
  • Ensure strict adherence to kosher laws, including the separation of meat and dairy production areas, proper labeling, storage, and approved sourcing practices.
  • Assist in directing daily kitchen operations, including production planning, staffing, and service execution, ensuring food quality, safety, and consistency.
  • Lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Food Service Supervisor/Manager, maintaining smooth and efficient service.
  • Train, mentor, and support kitchen staff in kosher procedures, food safety standards, and company policies, fostering a culture of accountability and teamwork.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations, ensuring a clean and hazard-free environment.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, and receiving, ensuring all products meet kosher certification requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain food safety and temperature logs, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Maintain documentation required for kosher certification audits and health inspections.
  • Support scheduling, labour coordination, and coverage for staff absences as required.
  • Assist with catering operations, ensuring all events meet kosher standards and are delivered on time, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Maintain equipment logs and support preventative maintenance programs.
  • Promote strong communication across teams and uphold Aramark policies, procedures, and customer service standards.
  • Step in to support front-line operations (including service or cashier duties) as needed.

Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of kosher dietary laws (kashrut).
  • Previous experience in a working kosher certified kitchen is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years food service or kitchen supervisory experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to lead by example in a hand on environment
  • Food safe certification is required.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Committed to high service standards
  • Comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with active kitchen work.
  • A diploma, certificate or degree in hospitality management (or related field) is an asset.
  • Calm under pressure and committed to high service standards.
