Food Service Manager - Assisted Living Community
Position Title: Food Service Manager
Location: Vista Mesa Assisted Living Facility, 1206 North Mildred, Cortez, Colorado 81321
Employment Type: Full-Time

Vista Mesa Assisted Living is a resident-centered assisted living community dedicated to providing exceptional care, comfort, and quality of life for our residents. We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Food Service Manager to lead our dining services program and ensure nutritious, appealing, and safe meal experiences for our residents.
Position Summary
The Food Service Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Food Service department, including menu planning, food preparation oversight, regulatory compliance, budgeting, staffing, and resident satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a passion for senior care, and experience in food service management.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee all dining services operations.
  • Develop and implement nutritious menus that meet residents' Food Service needs and preferences.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local food safety regulations.
  • Manage food purchasing, inventory, and department budgets.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule Food Service staff.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and resident satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with healthcare staff regarding special diets and nutritional requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records related to food service operations and inspections.
  • Conduct regular sanitation and safety audits of kitchen and dining areas.
  • Foster a positive dining experience that enhances residents' quality of life.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; Experience required with SERV Safe for Manager certificate required. A degree in Nutrition, Food Service Management, Culinary Arts, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of Food Service or food service management experience, preferably in assisted living, long-term care, or healthcare.
  • Knowledge of nutrition, special diets, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  • SERV Safe for managers Certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with budgeting and inventory management preferred.
