Candidates whose experience is limited to general manufacturing quality control will not be considered.

  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, SSOP, GMP, animal-welfare, and prerequisite programs
  • Review and maintain HACCP, SSOP, pre-operational, and quality documentation
  • Maintain direct communication with USDA and other regulatory representatives
  • Respond to regulatory concerns and ensure corrective actions are completed
  • Investigate product-quality issues, customer complaints, and process deviations
  • Document root causes and corrective and preventive actions
  • Prepare the facility for third-party, customer, organic, animal-welfare, GFSI, and co-packer audits
  • Oversee environmental and microbiological testing programs
  • Verify laboratory procedures, testing records, inventories, and equipment calibration
  • Train employees on new food-safety and quality procedures
  • Ensure the QA department is properly staffed and organized
  • Manage attendance, scheduling, overtime, performance reviews, and progressive discipline
  • Serve as backup to the QA Manager when required
  • Work closely with Production, Sanitation, Maintenance, and plant leadership
Testing and Program Oversight May Include
  • Salmonella, Campylobacter, and E. coli testing
  • Fat analysis
  • Equipment calibration
  • Organic and antibiotic-free program requirements
  • Calcium and bone-percentage verification
  • Animal-welfare and food-safety programs
RequirementsRequired Experience
  • Previous Quality Assurance experience in perishable food processing
  • Supervisory experience within a food-manufacturing QA department
  • Direct experience communicating with USDA or other regulatory agencies
  • Working knowledge of HACCP, SSOPs, GMPs, sanitation, regulatory documentation, and corrective actions
  • Experience preparing for audits and responding to audit findings
  • Strong documentation, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead QA technicians in a demanding plant environment
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications

  • GFSI, SQF, BRCGS, or related food-safety certification
  • Experience with organic, antibiotic-free, animal-welfare, or customer-specific programs
Compensation

The salary range is $55,000โ€“$70,000 per year, depending on experience.

Additional flexibility may be available for candidates who possess strong poultry-processing experience, direct USDA interaction, relevant certifications, supervisory experience, and a proven audit background.
