Job Title: Process Engineer
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Location: San Antonio, TX
 


Position Summary

The Process Engineer is a key contributor to the success of client'sfood manufacturing operations, with a focus on optimizing processes, integrating new technologies, and supporting plant operations. This role is responsible for researching, evaluating, and implementing advanced food processing equipment, while ensuring compliance with food safety standards and operational efficiency. The Process Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams and external vendors to support both domestic and international operations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend innovative process technologies and equipment by attending vendor shows and conducting site visits across North America and Europe.

  • Collaborate with equipment vendors to collect technical specifications, pricing, and documentation; manage vendor relationships during the procurement process.

  • Participate in and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to validate equipment performance before deployment.

  • Lead the transition from engineering to operations, supporting the successful adoption of new process lines at plant sites.

  • Analyze current processes to identify inefficiencies or bottlenecks and propose improvements with supporting ROI analysis.

  • Partner with Maintenance and Operations teams to provide technical troubleshooting and support during equipment upgrades and commissioning.

  • Maintain thorough and organized engineering documentation using SharePoint and other internal systems.

  • Travel domestically and internationally to support site assessments, vendor visits, and implementation projects.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, or a related technical field.

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of food safety standards and regulatory compliance in a production setting.

  • Technically inquisitive and passionate about advancing food manufacturing technologies.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
