Role Overview:
We are seeking a Sales Engineer with a chemical engineering background to join a custom foam manufacturer serving industries such as medical, aerospace, automotive, industrial, and electronics. This role sits at the intersection of technical problem-solving and customer-facing sales. The ideal candidate listens carefully, understands the customer's real need, and translates it into a manufacturable solution. This is an on-site, hands-on role working directly with customers, manufacturing, and engineering teams in real time.


Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and grow key customer accounts, building trusted relationships around both technical needs and business goals
- Serve as the technical bridge between customers and the manufacturing team, translating customer needs into buildable solutions
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities through inbound leads and proactive outreach
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, estimating, manufacturing, and customer service to develop accurate, timely quotes and solutions
- Conduct occasional customer site visits and attend relevant trade shows or industry events
- Maintain accurate records of accounts, pipeline activity, and customer interactions
- Stay current on foam materials, applications, and industry trends


Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a closely related technical field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort working through ambiguous customer requirements to reach a clear solution
- Genuine enjoyment of customer interaction, with strong listening and communication skills and the ability to build trust naturally
- Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences without losing accuracy
- Organized, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and collaborating across departments on the floor
- Must be able to work on-site full time at one of the locations listed above


Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a technical sales, application engineering, or customer-facing engineering role
- Familiarity with polyurethane foam, polymer science, or materials chemistry in an applied setting
- Experience working at a small to mid-size manufacturer
- Background in medical, aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing markets
