Our client is a leading global specialty geotechnical contractor that delivers innovative foundation and ground engineering solutions for complex infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and civil construction projects. With a strong reputation for technical expertise, safety, and project execution, they are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their growing team.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Assistant Project Manager will play an integral role in the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from estimating and pre-construction through project execution and closeout. Working closely with Project Managers, field teams, engineers, subcontractors, and clients, you will help ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This position supports a major infrastructure project in Kitimat, British Columbia, and follows a Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) schedule of 10 days on site followed by 5 days off. Flights, accommodations, meals, and camp are provided while on rotation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist Project Managers with the successful delivery of projects throughout the full project lifecycle, including estimating, pre-construction, project execution, and closeout.
• Support the preparation of estimates, quantity take-offs, pricing exercises, tender submissions, and project execution plans.
• Assist with constructability reviews, project methodologies, procurement planning, scheduling, and risk assessments.
• Support the development and monitoring of project budgets, schedules, and financial performance.
• Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications while identifying value engineering opportunities, constructability improvements, and potential cost savings.
• Coordinate project activities with engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
• Track project productivity, key performance indicators (KPIs), and project progress.
• Assist with mobilization planning, including equipment, materials, and workforce coordination.
• Support Project Managers with contract administration, change orders, payment applications, and project documentation.
• Assist in resolving technical issues encountered during construction.
• Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Promote compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Travel to project sites as required to support project execution and pre-construction activities.

REQUIREMENTS

• Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
• Previous experience as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Coordinator, Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or similar role within heavy civil, geotechnical, mining, industrial, or infrastructure construction.
• Strong understanding of project management principles, construction methodologies, scheduling, budgeting, and contract administration.
• Experience supporting estimating, procurement, project controls, and project execution.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, along with project management software.
• Ability and willingness to work a 10 days on / 5 days off Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) rotation to Kitimat, BC.
• Comfortable working in a remote camp environment.
• Valid driver's license.
