Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Purchasing & Vendor Management

  • Source, negotiate, and purchase fresh flowers, plants, floral supplies, containers, and related merchandise for all store locations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with floral growers, wholesalers, and suppliers.
  • Evaluate vendor performance, pricing, product quality, and delivery reliability.
  • Negotiate pricing, promotional opportunities, and seasonal purchasing programs.
  • Monitor market trends, seasonal availability, and industry pricing to optimize purchasing decisions.
  • Ensure timely product availability while minimizing inventory waste and shrink.

Merchandising

  • Develop floral merchandising standards and display guidelines for all stores.
  • Design and implement seasonal, holiday, and promotional floral programs.
  • Create attractive floral displays that drive impulse purchases and enhance the customer shopping experience.
  • Standardize merchandising practices while allowing flexibility based on store demographics and sales trends.
  • Visit stores regularly to evaluate merchandising execution and provide coaching.
  • Ensure compliance with company merchandising standards and brand presentation.

Inventory Management

  • Forecast floral demand based on holidays, promotions, historical sales, and seasonal trends.

  • Coordinate product deliveries and resolve supply chain issues.
  • Ensure proper rotation, storage, and care of floral products.
  • Support new store openings, remodels, and special events requiring floral displays.

Financial Management

  • Manage floral purchasing budgets.
  • Analyze department sales, margins, inventory turns, and shrink.
  • Develop action plans to improve profitability.
  • Recommend product mix adjustments based on sales performance.
  • Support promotional planning to drive revenue and increase customer traffic.

Training & Leadership

  • Train store team members on floral care, merchandising techniques, product knowledge, and ordering procedures.
  • Develop training materials and merchandising guides.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to improve department performance.
  • Promote best practices across all locations.

Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure floral products meet company quality standards.
