Position Overview
The Technical Sales Representative is responsible for driving profitable sales growth and expanding market presence throughout an assigned territory by developing strong relationships with distributors, contractors, architects, designers, and flooring professionals.
This position blends technical expertise with consultative selling to identify customer needs, recommend complete flooring system solutions, provide hands-on product demonstrations, and support customers throughout the sales process. Success requires developing new business opportunities, strengthening existing partnerships, and serving as a trusted advisor while consistently achieving territory sales objectives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Meet or exceed territory sales goals and key performance objectives.
  • Develop and execute a strategic territory growth plan.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, jobsite visits, and industry events.
  • Expand market share while strengthening existing customer relationships.
  • Build long-term partnerships with flooring distributors, contractors, installers, architects, and key decision-makers.
  • Become the primary technical resource for customers within the assigned territory.
  • Resolve customer concerns professionally while delivering value-added solutions.
  • Deliver professional product presentations, demonstrations, and installer training.
  • Recommend complete flooring system solutions based on project requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance on substrate preparation, moisture mitigation, adhesives, and flooring installation systems.
  • Support new product launches and promotional initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, and sales activity.
  • Analyze competitive activity and market trends.
  • Partner closely with Customer Service, Technical Services, Marketing, Product Management, and Operations to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  • Represent UZIN brand at trade shows, distributor meetings, and industry events.

Education, Experience & Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive sales experience, preferably within flooring, construction materials, building products, or a related technical industry.
  • At least two years of outside sales experience.
  • At least two years of experience within the commercial or residential flooring industry.
  • Strong understanding of flooring installation systems and industry applications.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory, including occasional overnight travel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM software.

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Technical certifications related to flooring installation or construction materials.
  • Experience selling through distribution channels.
