Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Capture Test and Evaluation Engineer (Sr. Staff Engineer Systems Test) to lead as part of a Capture on the Test & Evaluation organization. This role reports to the Engineering Integration & Execution (EI&E) Test Department Manager. This role is located on-site in Melbourne, FL.

**This is an individual contributor role and will not have direct reports**

In this role, the successful candidate will support all test activities, including test planning, defining test scope, establishing test processes, and developing system test plans and laboratory design/operations. The individual will also contribute to writing technical volumes, story boarding proposal strategies for testing, and creating other capture effort documentation, while planning the execution of a test program post award. Candidate shall display professionalism, leadership, have a strong work ethic, work well with others, and be able to function as member of a dynamic Test Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and peer review of test documentation
  • Development and proposal test documentation and technical volumes
  • Decomposition of program and system requirements into test requirements
  • Development of Specialty, Lab, Ground, and Flight Test Programs
  • Definition of test facility requirements.
  • Participate in test planning

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 14 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 12 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 10 years of related professional/military experience
  • Must have an active U.S. Government Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company
  • Must have experience generating technical documents and working with various software/data processing tools such as MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and/or other various programming languages
  • Must have an understanding of common Test Engineering test methodologies and practices
  • Must have relevant test experience inone or more of the following, bulleted fields:
  • Ground testing including static testing, fatigue testing, ground resonance testing, ground vibration testing and live fire testing.
  • Flight testing including performance, flutter, flying qualities, loads, and mission systems (sensors, mission processing, communication systems) for development and operational test. Experience and familiarity with airborne instrumentation systems, telemetry and control rooms.
  • Laboratory testing including Integrated Functional Capability (combined flight hardware and lab testing) in System Integration Labs/Level 3 testing, cyber testing, wind tunnel testing, structural load and fatigue testing.
  • Production testing in a DCMA 8210.D program to include conduct of acceptance test procedures, initial engine run testing, functional check flight testing and customer delivery.

Preferred Experience:

  • Master of Science or PhD Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline
  • Current, active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance
  • Software test automation experience
  • Military or commercial flight line experience. Leadership/management experience leading a mixed salaried and touch labor workforce.
  • Test Pilot School Graduate (Pilot or Engineer) as recognized in DCMA 8210.D.
  • Experience leading a small team or test effort
Primary Level Salary Range: $151,400.00 - $227,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
