We are seeking a Controls Field Engineer to join our team in Mount Pleasant, WI. This role combines hands-on field engineering with control system development, providing opportunities to work both at customer sites and within the engineering organization to support and enhance our products.

Position Summary

As a Controls Field Engineer, you will configure, troubleshoot, and support application-specific control systems across a variety of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. You will work directly with customers during commissioning and field support activities while also contributing to product development, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, traveling to customer locations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and support control systems for electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic applications.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and engineering reports.
  • Evaluate hardware and software deviation requests and recommend design improvements.
  • Create product modifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective actions for product and system issues.
  • Support Production and Product Service teams with technical expertise.
  • Test software and hardware systems and generate comprehensive test reports.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of new technologies and control solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices through ongoing professional development.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed for commissioning, troubleshooting, and technical support activities.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Software Engineering
    • Computer Engineering
    • Or equivalent experience (10+ years in a related field)
  • Experience with embedded systems and programming languages such as:
    • C
    • C#
    • VB.NET
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Data acquisition equipment
    • CAN communications, including SAE J1939
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using editors, compilers, revision control tools, and PLM/PDM systems.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel frequently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional engineering projects and activities.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across both hardware and software systems.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing, field engineering, commissioning, or technical support role.
