Your Job
Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Mechanical Reliability Engineer (Paper) to join our team in Brewton, AL. This role will primarily create value by improving equipment reliability (capable, stable and predictable) thereby reducing unplanned events while improving uptime, availability and costs. Reliability improvements are expected as a result of utilizing reliability best practices and developing complete asset strategies to manage and/or mitigate the risk consequences of premature failures. Our Team
The Brewton mill is in south central Alabama about an hour from Mobile, AL, Pensacola, FL, and the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast. The team is made up of 450 employees who produce white top linerboard and solid bleached sulfate (SBS) paperboard. The SBS material is used to make GP's Dixie plates. White top linerboard is used in production of corrugated containers and displays. This position is an opportunity to be part of a rapidly expanding organization with tremendous growth potential. The most recent $160M capital investment is expected to be completed in late 2024. Brewton was also the first fully integrated pulp and paper mill in the US to receive an Energy Star designation from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. What You Will Do
  • Participate in and lead effective Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) efforts to identify root causes of complex and/or repetitive problems and put in place executable corrective actions
  • Support in all areas to meet Environmental, Health & Safety excellence
  • Support the Mill Lubrication Program, Precision and Predictive maintenance programs
  • Facilitate area Prioritization meetings to set effective maintenance work schedules
  • Provide support to operational areas with emphasis on short and long-term reliability improvements
  • Provide leadership to drive continuous improvement with asset and site reliability
  • Develop, implement, and support preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for new and existing equipment (vibration analysis, lubrication program, oil analysis, ultrasonic, infrared, NDT, thermography, MCE testing, and precision maintenance)
  • Review plans for new equipment and contribute to the Design for Reliability process by validating reliability and maintainability of the systems
  • Support implementation of reliability processes aimed at developing skilled maintenance and operating personnel who operate with a reliability-centric mindset
  • Analyze operational data (KPIs, OEE, etc.) to identify gaps and areas of potential improvement
  • Work with other Reliability Engineers to share knowledge and gain expertise in development of mill wide reliability strategies
  • Actively participate in design and implementation of Asset Improvement Strategies for systems to improve production and uptime
  • Apply sound logic and scientific principles to problem solving
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities and customers simultaneously
  • Work both individually with little supervision and together with a team

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Reliability experience in a manufacturing/heavy industrial or military environment
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Project, and Outlook

What Will Put You Ahead
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Pulp and Paper industry experience
  • Certification or continued education in reliability applications, practices, and management
  • Experience with Reliability Improvement tools (Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Preventative/Predictive maintenance, KPIs
  • Experience with vibration, ultrasound, or infrared analysis
  • Six Sigma experience or certification
