Job description

In Clinical Nutrition at Main Campus McWane Building
Work schedule will be On-call/ Flexi on the Day Shift shift, Varies.
Summary:
The clinical nutritionist will be responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy appropriate for age and disease of pediatric patients. Has a faculty appointment at the University of Alabama, Birmingham and the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa. Responsible for initiating and writing orders within the defined scope of practice to implement appropriate nutrition care in a timely manner. Responsible for the case management of certain patient populations including, but not limited to, ketogenic diet therapy and home TPN. Establishes protocols for medical nutrition Therapy (MNT) for the organization. Initiates nutrition interventions as defined. Accepts telephone physician orders, within their scope of practice.
Other information:
Working knowledge of measures used for liquids and solids, blender and kitchen equipment. Working knowledge of gram scale, Lange skin fold calipers, scales (digital and balance) and stadiometer is required. Working knowledge of general office equipment (such as, but not limited to, facsimile machine, photocopier). Advanced knowledge of eternal feeding equipment.
Basic knowledge of hardware (personal computer) and a working knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite software as well as nutrition related software are required. Working knowledge of handheld calculators is required.
Age groups will be identified and age-specific competencies will be addressed in the competency assessment tool.
Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* Registered Dietician ABOED
* Registered Dietician CDR
Nonessential:
* Basic Life Support
Education with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* Masters Degree in Food and Nutrition or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
- Bachelors of Science or Arts in Food and Nutrition and 2 Years Staff Level
Experience with Equivalent Qualifications:
Essential:
* 1 Year job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Nutrition
