Job description

Thrive Behavioral Health boasts a diverse workforce of roughly 500 staff members and a very high retention rate of clinical staff - reoccurring over 80%!  The CRNP-PMH or Psychiatrist at Thrive will work as part of a team providing care to children and adults. They will evaluate, provide care, and medication management as appropriate. This role may be conducted in other Thrive offices as desired by prescriber and needed by agency with the expectation of services to be based out of Queen Anne's County office location. The position will have virtual opportunities with a few in-person days required per month. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Keeps abreast of current literature and developments in the field and attends or completes required agency trainings.
  2. Provides psychiatry services to patients and obtains medical histories; orders medications and procedures.
  3. Diagnoses and directs counseling for each patient on a plan for treatment.
  4. Seeks consultation/peer review from other practitioners when needed and actively participates in activities intended to improve patient care/facility operations.
  5. Using the company’s EMR system, enters and maintains accurate, detailed, and timely medical records about each patient, including observations during appointments in compliance with agency, COMAR, and The Joint Commission policy and procedures.
  6. Complies with all laws applicable to internal medicine, including HIPAA.
  7. Following Thrive’s Medication Management policies and in accordance with Maryland statute and professional practice guidelines, prescribes medication.
  8. Review’s incoming reports (e.g. lab, x-ray, EKG) signs, dates and follow-ups in a timely manner.
  9. Participates in staff outreach and off-site health care programs in the Thrive Behavioral Health service area as assigned by the Medical Director.
  10. Assists in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested.
  11. Participates in outside medical public relations functions and medical staff recruitment.
  12. Available for consultation, direction, and onsite care in the evenings, weekends, and during off hours.
  13. Assists in ethical patient discharge planning, especially in terms of health care needs, meets with patient prior to discharge if possible.
  14.  Ensures to use the utmost care in protecting the confidentiality of client records in accordance with State and Federal   laws.
  15.  Ensures client and family involvement in treatment planning. Provides ongoing support and consultation to families and guardians of client.
  16.  Effectively partners with assigned clinician to ensure consistent communications, support, and treatment for the client/s.
  17.  Understands and adheres to Thrive Behavioral Health compliance standards as they appear in Thrive Behavioral Health Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy. 
  18. Stays aware of all pertinent federal, state and Thrive Behavioral Health regulation, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  19. Performs other duties and tasks required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of industry standards: organization, theory, principles, and research processes, quality improvement and change management techniques, accreditation and regulatory standards, ability to assess clinical care requirements based on medical, basic psychotherapeutic, and human development principles, scope of practice, and regulatory standards.

2. Treatment knowledge: Provides psychiatric evaluations and treatment to assigned caseload consistent with treatment plans and conducts effective sessions on a regular basis using appropriate modalities.

3. Knowledge of medications: indications, dosage ranges, side effects, potential toxicity, etc.

4. Able to work effectively with the client and assigned clinician to implement solutions and model appropriate behaviors.

5. Professional readiness: Issues related to self-awareness, diversity, ethics and continuing education.

6. Knowledge of PC software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred.

7. Understanding: code of ethics for respective profession and seeks consultation with supervisor when necessary.

8. Written and oral communication skills; must be able to concentrate on work amid distractions such as noise, conversations and foot traffic.

9. Must be able to work independently with little direct supervision in an unstructured environment with multiple demands.

10. Reading and writing level that can clearly express or understand complex concepts, assessments, directions and processes or sequences of events-level equivalent to at least four years of college.

11. Ability to represent the program well in interactions both inside and outside the facility

12. Working knowledge of DSM 5 diagnoses & has the ability to asses and diagnose according to DSM 5 diagnostic criteria.
