Job description

WDAF-TV FOX4 in Kansas City is seeking aSpecial Projects Producertoproduce andcoordinateenterprise content, including streaming programming on WDAF+, broadcast specialsand live events.TheSpecial ProjectsProduceris a keycollaborator across the newsroom, coordinating projects across news, streaming, digital, and production teams.This position balances daily oversight of streaming content with coordination of larger broadcast specials and station initiatives, while also serving the primary producer on select initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise content planning and execution for WDAF+, including original programming and streaming initiatives.

  • Coordinate broadcast specials and station initiatives, including franchise and community-focused programming (Heritage Month specials, franchise initiatives,andlive events.)

  • Overseethe shooting and editing calendar for specials to ensureefficient production and use ofresources.

  • Work with reporters, photographers,and editors to produce high-quality special reports.

  • Maintain strong coordinationacrossnewsroom teams, including managers, operations and production.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Experience producing newscasts, special projects,or multi-platform content.

  • Demonstrated ability to guide projects and collaborate across teams without direct supervisory responsibility, requiring influence and coordination across teams.

  • Excellent writing, spelling, grammar and copy-editing skills.

  • Project coordination experienceand strong organizational skills required.

  • Understanding of streaming and digital content workflows preferred.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines.

  • Must be able to flex schedule as projects demand.

  • College degree in broadcast journalism, broadcast news or related fields.

  • Ability to make editorial decisions under deadlinesandmanage multiple projects simultaneously.
