Hanson Professional Services Inc. provides a range of services including design and construction oversight of transportation infrastructure, consulting and construction materials testing services.
We are seeking a Construction Observer (all levels) with highway/bridge construction experience to perform construction oversight in various locations.
Position Profile
This position will be responsible for observation and documentation of airport paving, drainage, utility, lighting, structural and site development during construction. Projects could also include highways, local roads, bridges, and earthen structures.
A Day in the Life of a Construction Inspector at Hanson
Here's a snapshot of what you would do in this role:
  • Represent owner in monitoring construction activities for compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Perform or schedule/observe onsite construction materials testing.
  • Coordinate and communicate field construction activities with contractors, designers and/or owner's representative(s).
  • This role will require travel including overnight up to approx. 50% of the time. The majority of will be within IL, MO IN, KY

What We're Looking For
We feel the following qualifications would set you up for success in this role:
Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma/equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years of roadway or airport construction experience
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the minimum qualifications above the following will result in a more competitive candidate:
  • Experience working in an airport environment preferred; but experience with other infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, earth structures) would apply as well.
  • IDOT Construction Technician courses: Documentation of Contracts and Quantities, 3- Day Aggregate, PCC Level I and II, HMA Level I and II
  • NASSCO Certification preferred
  • Possession or ability to obtain the following certifications: ITCP-CIPP, PACP|LACP|MACP
  • Department of Transportation project experience (IL preferred) and familiarity with the respective agency documentation and material testing certifications; and
  • Candidates must be able to work as a team member as well as independently, have the desire to learn new skills, be self-motivated, and possess good interpersonal communication skills.

The salary range for this position depending on relevant experience:
$30.00 - $45.00 per hour
