Commissioning Support Center Engineering Manager
Join a Fortune 500 power generation company and play a key leadership role in building and leading a newly established Mission Support Center team. We are seeking a highly experienced Commissioning Support Center Engineering Manager to lead engineering excellence, drive standardization, and support commissioning operations across a fleet of power generation assets.
As the Commissioning Support Center Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for developing engineering standards, reviewing operational and commissioning data, leading technical troubleshooting efforts, and building a high-performing team. This position will oversee a team of four engineers and serve as the technical authority for commissioning engineering processes, procedures, and best practices.
The ideal Commissioning Support Center Engineering Manager will bring a strong power plant and/or construction background, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven ability to improve reliability, reduce risk, and drive continuous improvement across engineering and field operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering function within the Commissioning Support Center (CSC) and support fleet-wide commissioning initiatives.
- Build, develop, and lead a newly established Mission Support Center engineering team consisting of four engineering professionals.
- Review commissioning, operational, and performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and continuously improve engineering standards, procedures, and commissioning work practices.
- Serve as the technical authority for CSC engineering governance and decision-making.
- Oversee the creation, maintenance, and implementation of commissioning procedures and technical standards.
- Drive process improvements through lessons learned, root cause investigations, field feedback, and nonconformance reviews.
- Ensure alignment with project requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Provide technical oversight for control systems, logic development, and system integration activities.
- Support troubleshooting efforts for complex and high-risk commissioning challenges.
- Identify technical risks and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
- Support vibration analysis, rotor balancing, and power plant performance improvement initiatives.
- Partner with planning, engineering, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Lead incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8-12 years of experience in power plant engineering, commissioning, field operations, or related industries.
- Strong power plant and/or industrial construction background.
- Experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting of complex systems.
- Experience developing engineering standards, procedures, and commissioning methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of combined-cycle power plant systems, including gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment.
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and collaborative work platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Experience supporting fleet-wide commissioning or startup operations.
- Previous leadership experience within a technical support center, mission support center, or centralized engineering organization.
