What You'll Do

As the Assistant Controller, you'll oversee the daily accounting operations for National Fleet Management and Heavy Duty Truck Supply while partnering with leadership to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities include:

Financial Leadership

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations across multiple business entities.
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, audits, and compliance.

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Accounting functions.
  • Ensure accurate inventory accounting and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Improve billing accuracy and strengthen financial reporting processes.
  • Monitor purchase order compliance and vendor management.

Process Improvement

  • Strengthen internal controls and standardize accounting procedures.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and implement automation.

Leadership

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
  • Build strong partnerships with Operations, Parts, Service, and executive leadership.
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement throughout the department.

What Makes You Successful

We're looking for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and collaborating with others to drive results.

The ideal candidate has:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience with inventory accounting and ERP or dealer management systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification.
  • Multi-location accounting experience.
  • Heavy-duty truck, fleet maintenance, dealership, or parts distribution industry experience.
  • Experience implementing accounting systems or process improvements.
