Job Description:
Collaborates effectively across departments to support organizational objectives. Responsible for computing, recording, and verifying financial data to maintain accurate accounting records, with primary responsibility for fixed asset accounting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of fixed asset accounting for the company.
  • Review and oversee fixed asset additions, retirements, depreciation expense, and gain/loss on disposals, including all related reconciliations.
  • Maintain and enforce the company's fixed asset policy to ensure compliance with GAAP; provide guidance to business partners on capitalizable costs.
  • Prepare or track internal capitalized compensation costs.
  • Prepare or review account reconciliations for assigned areas.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual schedules and analyses for auditors and tax consultants.
  • Ensure compliance with internal SOX controls for assigned areas.
  • Support development and enhancement of accounting policies and drive process improvement initiatives at both corporate and store levels.
  • Lead fixed asset accounting operations, including direct supervision of Fixed Asset Accountant, to record all elements of fixed asset accounting including capitalization, transfers and impairments/write-offs.
  • Develop, mentor, and manage team members, with responsibility for potential team growth.

Education, Experience & Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required.
  • 6-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to retail or restaurant industry environments.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory or people leadership experience.
  • Experience with Workday strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls (SOX compliance).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; strong working knowledge of Word, email, and financial systems.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to calculate and interpret financial data.
  • Proven ability to solve practical problems and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply written, oral, and procedural instructions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management
