Job description

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a proven leader to head Fund Accounting service delivery for one of our most significant clients. This role carries full end-to-end accountability for delivering service excellence, ensuring all fund accounting deliverables are produced accurately, on time, and to the highest standard of control, governance, automation and client expectation through both active management and participation in critical processes.

Why this role is important to us?

Fund accounting is a core service within Investment Services and Global Delivery, underpinning the integrity of client reporting, valuation, and operational decision-making. For our clients, accurate and timely fund accounting is not optional; it is central to trust, regulatory confidence, and service credibility.

This role is critical given the scale, complexity, and strategic importance of the client within our Global Delivery model. The Managing Director will be the senior accountable owner for Fund Accounting service excellence, with clear accountability for operational execution, delivery quality, risk management, issue resolution, regulatory compliance, and alignment with client expectations.

Successful Candidate will possess:

Strong understanding of fixed income yield concepts, including security and fund level impacts related to yield, income recognition, amortization, and regulatory reporting.

Deep knowledge of foreign exchange, and alternative investment products, structured products, currency hedging strategies, swaps, futures, options, private credit, real estate, reinsurance, and other complex investment vehicles.

Expertise in valuation and bond pricing methodologies, including market-based pricing, fair value concepts, spread analysis, and the key factors that drive security valuations and NAV impacts.

Role Summary

Own end-to-end accountability for NAV accuracy, timeliness, and completeness across the fund accounting operating model. Serve as the central point of coordination between Fund Accounting, Middle Office, Transfer Agency, Reporting, and other upstream/downstream teams to proactively identify, escalate, and resolve data quality and processing issues that impact NAV production.

Key Responsibilities

  • NAV Oversight and Exception Management
    • Maintain overall ownership of daily NAV delivery, ensuring NAVs are produced accurately and within client and regulatory deadlines.
    • Lead NAV oversight activities, including monitoring alerts, investigating exceptions, and coordinating resolution with upstream and downstream stakeholders.
    • Drive root cause analysis and remediation of recurring NAV issues to improve operational resiliency and reduce processing risk.
  • Data Quality and STP Optimization
    • Establish, review, and maintain gold copy rules and data governance controls to maximize straight-through processing (STP) and minimize manual intervention.
    • Continuously assess processing exceptions and implement enhancements that improve data integrity, automation, and operational efficiency.
    • Partner with technology and operations teams to strengthen data validation and exception management processes.
  • Fund Launch and Lifecycle Management
    • Maintain overall accountability for operational readiness, setup, and successful launch of new funds.
    • Coordinate across Fund Accounting, Transfer Agency, Reporting, Custody, and other operational teams to ensure all fund structures, controls, and processes are established prior to launch.
    • Oversee post-launch stabilization activities and issue resolution.
  • Middle Office Coordination and Controls
    • Partner closely with Middle Office teams to ensure the integrity of pricing, corporate actions, security master, and other critical fund data.
    • Lead cross-functional reviews and data quality checks to identify and resolve discrepancies before they impact NAV production.
    • Ensure appropriate controls and governance are in place across key NAV inputs.
  • Client Data Governance and Compliance
    • Ensure adherence to PIMCO's data hierarchy requirements and approved front-office data sources.
    • Maintain governance over critical data elements used in valuation, accounting, and reporting processes.
    • Partner with client-facing and operational teams to align data standards, control frameworks, and escalation procedures.

Success Measures

  • Consistent achievement of NAV timeliness and accuracy targets.
  • Reduction in NAV exceptions and manual processing events.
  • Increased STP rates through effective gold copy governance.
  • Successful and timely onboarding of new funds.
  • Strong data quality and control environment across all NAV-related processes.
  • Effective management of cross-functional dependencies and issue resolution.
