Title AMP Value Stream Owner- Equity and Fixed Income

Department Asset Management Platform

Location Flexible

Reports To Head of Asset Management Platforms

Level 8

We're proud to have been helping our clients build better financial futures for over 50 years. We do this by bringing together investment expertise, disciplined governance and resilient platforms that enable our teams to make great decisions for our clients. Join Asset Management Platform (AMP) as a Lead for Multi Asset, Systematic & Solutions and help shape the capabilities that enable differentiated investment processes, new product innovation and scalable growth.

About your team

As a business, we are constantly evolving how we work to stay ahead of what our clients need and to deliver on our Forward 8 ambitions. FIL Platformsrepresentsthe next step in that journey - bringing together Asset Management Delivery, Enterprise Technology Services, and delivery and change teams from across the business into a single integrated structure, designed for clarity, speed, and impact.

That structure is organised around Platforms, each a focused unit of capability with a single accountable owner and within each Platform, a set of Value Streams that translate strategic priorities into funded, sequenced delivery.

Your value stream sits at the heart of that model. It exists to connect our talent andexpertisedirectly to the priorities that matter most, delivering greater impact for our clients with less duplication and fewer competingbacklogs.

About your role

A value stream (VS) is FIL's core delivery construct - the unit through which strategy becomes execution. Each value stream has a defined purpose, a funded roadmap, and the people and capability needed to deliver against it. It sits below the Platform and above the ARTs and squads that do the work, and it is the layer where priorities are set, trade-offs are made, and outcomes are owned.

Working between the Platform Owner and the ART and squad layer below, the VS Owner translates platform strategy into a funded, sequenced roadmap - making the prioritisation calls, allocating resource and budget across ARTs, and ensuring the teams are always working on what matters most to the business and to FIL's clients. When demand outstrips capacity, that decision sits here.

As the Asset Management Platforms Lead - Equity & Fixed Income, you will lead the development and scaling of AMP's Equity and Fixed Income investment capability, with end-to-end accountability for the vision, roadmap and delivery of outcomes that support differentiated investment processes and unlock new growth opportunities. You will combine strong engineering leadership with deep partnerships across investment teams, translating investment objectives and regulatory requirements into scalable, production-grade applications, data pipelines and analytics. These capabilities will enhance front-office effectiveness, accelerate time-to-value, and remain aligned with the broader AMP technology architecture.

You will be responsible for shaping the target-state architecture and delivering against an executable plan, whilst driving delivery with precision, pace and purpose; guiding design decisions, unblocking engineers, and ensuring that what we build is robust, well-governed and maintainable. This is a "builder-leader" role: you'll help set standards and ways of working, but you'll also roll up your sleeves where needed to get the first versions of critical capabilities into the hands of those who need them.

In close partnership with portfolio managers, quantitative researchers and traders, you will define and deliver end-to-end investment functionality - from requirements discovery and rapid prototyping through to engineering, testing, release and adoption. You'll establish clear interfaces between research tooling and production services, and ensure solutions meet functional, data, control and operational requirements.

In this capability leadership role, you will build the foundations (patterns, reusable components, data models, deployment pipelines and controls) required to scale Equity & Fixed Income capabilities. Working in close partnership with global investment, research, operations, risk and technology stakeholders, you will ensure the delivery of robust, compliant and scalable tools, data and controls that support the end-to-end investment lifecycle - from research and idea generation through to portfolio construction, implementation and oversight.

You will work closely with Product Owners, Architects and Delivery Leads across AMP and the wider FIL Platforms area to ensure work remains aligned, sequenced and on track, while designing the platform for extensibility as strategies and asset classes evolve, and enabling the rapid adoption of new capabilities with minimal friction for investment teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Setting the value stream strategy and roadmap for Equity & Fixed Income, and keeping it aligned to platform OKRs and FIL's Forward 8 priorities as both evolve, while leading the build-out of Equity & Fixed Income investment capabilities and setting clear technical direction.

  • Owning the initiative backlog and making active prioritisation decisions, including translating investment problems into clear, actionable requirements with measurable outcomes.

  • Managing the value stream budget and headcount within agreed funding levels, and making the case for investment where it is needed, including oversight of vendor and partner contributions to ensure cost effectiveness and delivery quality.

  • Tracking and reporting on outcomes, not just delivery progress - knowing what has actually moved and being honest when it has not, alongside ensuring transparency and accountability across delivery.

  • Leading quarterly planning cycles and ensuring the ARTs are working to a coherent, well-sequenced plan, while driving cross-functional delivery with pace, discipline and predictable outcomes.

  • Managing operational risk and service stability within the value stream alongside the change agenda, embedding strong engineering, control and resilience practices appropriate for a regulated environment.

  • Building and developing the leadership team within the value stream, and holding them to high standards, while fostering a high-quality engineering culture and effective ways of working across teams.

  • Define and evolve architecture, core services, data models and integration patterns to enable scalable solutions across strategies and asset classes.

  • Establish and uphold engineering standards (code quality, testing, CI/CD, observability and documentation), ensuring they are applied consistently across all delivery.

  • Partner closely with portfolio managers, researchers and traders to deliver investment functionality, alongside building data and analytics capabilities that support systematic research, portfolio construction and monitoring.

  • Representing the value stream at platform governance forums and with senior business stakeholders.

About you

The strongest candidates will have led large, complex delivery programmes at scale and will be comfortable with the full breadth of this role - the commercial, the operational, the technical, and the people dimensions, complemented by deep experience in investment management and front-office technology environments.

  • A proven track record of end-to-end delivery leadership in a large, complex organisation - ideally at Director level or equivalent, including building applications from scratch and taking them through to production (requirements, architecture, engineering, testing, deployment and support), ideally within Equity & Fixed Income strategies.

  • Strong familiarity with agile operating models at scale; experience with SAFe or a comparable framework is an advantage, alongside the ability to set a clear vision, define roadmaps and prioritise work across competing demands and uncertainty.

  • The commercial acumen to own a business outcome and make the investment case for a value stream's priorities, supported by experience managing vendor contributions and driving cost-effective delivery.

  • Financial management experience - owning a budget, making trade-offs, and being accountable for spend against outcomes, with a clear focus on aligning investment to measurable business value.

  • The technical fluency to engage meaningfully with engineering leads on architecture, debt, and delivery risk, underpinned by strong engineering fundamentals and a pragmatic architecture mindset (APIs, event/data integration, scalable compute, observability and security controls).

  • Senior stakeholder management skills, including the confidence to push back on demand that does not serve the business, with the ability to partner closely with front-office stakeholders (PMs, quant researchers, traders) and translate investment problems into clear technical designs and prioritised backlogs.

  • A genuine track record of building high-performing, engaged teams across both business and technology disciplines, including the ability to motivate, coach and develop teams and foster effective cross-functional partnerships.

  • Strong experience leading software delivery in an investment management or capital markets environment, including a strong understanding of portfolio management and investment workflows across adjacent strategies (e.g. systematic investing, portfolio solutions, sustainable investing) and emerging capabilities (e.g. digital assets, real estate and other illiquid strategies).

  • Proven track record of developing and scaling AI use cases into production environments, alongside hands-on familiarity with data and analytics tooling commonly used in systematic investing (e.g. Python ecosystems, data pipelines, research-to-production workflows).

  • Experience delivering in controlled environments with a strong focus on data quality, lineage, access controls, auditability and operational resilience, and a broader data and controls mindset appropriate for regulated environments.
